Gabions & Reno Mattressesare rectangular baskets made of heavily galvanized,double twisted, steel woven wire mesh. The singleunit constructed baskets are assembled, lacedtogether and then filled with stone to form amonolithic structure. Gabions and Reno mattressesare used for retaining walls, sound barriers, channellinings, slope stabilization, dams and weirs. Theyare particularly effective in restoring theenvironment and promoting vegetation growth. Ourmesh is also used very successfully for rockfallprotection and mechanically stabilized soil walls

(Terramesh ). All the physical and mechanicalproperties of Maccaferri gabions and Renomattresses meet or exceed the requirements of ASTMA975.

Main FeaturesENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS–Gabions andReno mattresses are environmentally friendlyproducts. The blending of gabion and Reno mattressstructures into the environment is rapid andpleasing. The voids in the rockfill becomeprogressively filled with silt, promoting vegetationgrowth which is essential to the preservation andmaintenance of the ecological balance of thesurrounding environment.

FLEXIBILITY–The woven mesh system has thecapability of withstanding unexpected and/orlocalized stresses due to ground settlements andscour by deflection while maintaining its structuralintegrity.

PERMEABILITY–The stone fill allows the water toseep through the structure while retaining the soil,therefore no additional drainage is required torelieve the hydrostatic pressures.

COST EFFECTIVE, EASY TO BUILD–Gabions andReno mattresses construction does not requireskilled labor because they are very easy to build.Standard construction equipment can be used.Structures can be built in stages, if necessary, andbaskets can be prefilled and launched to enablethe installation under water.
