Goal: Provide professionals with competency based training in effective ABA instructional techniques

How: Gagne’s 9 events of instruction and development of ABA instruction modules

ABA modules will begin instruction with an “ABA & autism Jeopardy”

Each instructional segment will introduce the objectives for each section

At the beginning of each section, open-ended questions will be embedded that directly relate to participant experience and subject matter being presented

Example: How many of you have worked with children with autism?

Instructional content will be presented in power point, video presentations, modeling etc.

Instructor will model target instructional behaviors for participants

Example: Instructor demonstrates a physical prompt on a video sample

Learners will role-play key ABA instructional behaviors in small groups and performance will be videotaped

Groups will view skills on overhead projector and observe target instructional skills and receive feedback based off of performance criterion rubric

Participants will be video-taped and critiqued by instructor and fellow participants

Instructor will go to participants job site one month post training and assess target instructional behaviors using the rubric performance based checklist from training
