A natural gas processing and distribution company in India founded in 1984 – based in New Delhi
Six segments - Transmission services of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), Natural gas trading, petrochemicals, LPG and Liquid hydrocarbons, GAILTEL
All aspects of the Natural Gas value chain -Exploration & Production, Processing, Transmission, Distribution and Marketing

It encompasses the company’s philosophy fordelineating its responsibility as a corporate citizen and lays down the guidelines and
mechanism for undertaking socially useful programmes for welfare & sustainable
development of the community at large, is titled as the ‘GAIL CSR Policy’

FUNDING FOR
CSR ACTIVITIES
For achieving its CSR objectives through implementation of meaningful & sustainable CSR programmes, GAIL will allocate 2% of its previous year’s Profit after Tax (PAT), as its Annual CSR Budget
Budget for the year 2009-2010 – 30 crores

CSR STRATEGY
An amount of Rs. 5 Crores will be earmarked each year, as contribution towards the corpus of the GAIL Charitable and Education Trust, till the corpus reaches a figure of Rs. 50 Crores
10 % of CSR budget will be allocated each year for rendering relief/contribution in the event of natural calamities affecting the communities
3% of the budget will be earmarked towards cumulative expenditure on Need Identification, Impact Assessment Studies as well as towards Sponsorship of CSR events/publications

Contribution for purchase of furniture, fan, other utilities to Navjeevan Care and Support Centre which is looking after HIV +ve people and AIDS prevention - St. Xavier's Seva Foundation (NGO) – Rs. 1 lakh
Contribution for conducting eye camps at Kuthalam, Pondicherry (125 cataract surgeries) – Aravind Eye Hospital – Rs. 3 lakhs
Provision of an ambulance to the Central Prison, Rajahmundry (A.P) in case of medical emergency for the prisoners of Central Prison – Home department, A.P – Rs. 9.28 lakhs
Providing furniture and medical aid to Shanti Sadan, Gandhidham, Gujarat – an asylum for mentallychallenged destitute women - St. Joseph's HospitalTrust – Rs. 7.83 lakhs
