BIG CITIES, BIG OPPORTUNITIESThe world is rapidly moving to an urban explosion. Urban growth is staggering, and this poses a formidable challenge to the proclamation of God’s Word. Mission to cities is a commanding call. These great metropo-lises are now the biggest mission challenge for spreading the gospel. We need committed followers of Jesus to live and work among urban dwellers, being spiritual salt in the city. Any initiative to reach the large cities of the world must be a long-term initiative that includes a variety of ministries and approaches. Life Hope Centers and Church Planting are an important part of this initiative.

CRISIS BOOT CAMPTruth be told, bad things happen in God’s organizations. We call them crises and they range from fires, deaths and natural disasters to embezzlement, the aftermath of a pastor’s arrest or dismissal and incidents at our schools that draw media attention. As communicators, our role is to help administrators think, talk and work through these tough times and situations. How we handle each crisis and what we say impacts the larger church family, our brand and sometimes our bottom line.

Celeste Ryan Blyden is the Communication director for the Columbia Union Conference.

LOW-END MOBILEAre phablets a niche trend that will fizzle out? Which form factor will dominate? How can content creators position their media to be easily accessible by this growing market.
