Baseball and Softball
Come join us at the ball park this spring!
It’s almost that time of the year again. The grass will be getting greener, the sun
will be shining and the weather will be just right for you and your youth to come
join us at the pitching mound. We offer a variety of different baseball and softball
programs appropriate for all ages.
T-Ball is offered to both boys and girls from the ages of 4 to 5 years old. This
program is designed to introduce the very basic concepts of both baseball and
softball. It is friendly to youth of all athletic skill sets. Registration will run from
April 2nd to April 16th and the registration fee is $30.
Coach – Pitch is offered to both boys and girls from the ages of 6 to 7 years old. The Coach-Pitch league uses a pitching machine that softly lobs the ball into the air for players to swing at. If players are unsuccessful at hitting the machine after 3 attempts, they will use the tee. Registration will run from April 2nd to April 16th and the registration fee is $30.
Our recreation department plays baseball in the Southwestern Virginia baseball and softball league. It is split up into 3 age division; 8-10, 11-13, and 14-17. Youth age is determined in accordance to the school year calendar. For instance, a child must turn 8 before September 30th 2017 and must not turn 11 before September 30th, 2017 to play in the 8-10 league. Local games are played on week nights in Galax, Grayson and Carroll County. On weekends teams will travel and play teams in Wythe county, Floyd county, Pulaski, Grayson county, Carroll county and Galax. P-21
