Of the 203 students enrolled in 2009-2010, 38 are from area schools, and 165 are Galesburg High School students.
Automotive Technology Program
Course covers theory and operation of the mechanical, electrical, and computer systems of engines. This includes overhaul, general repair, and preventative maintenance.
Students learn the proper use of manuals, tools, and test equipment found in modern automotive shops.

Computers are used for technical vehicle information such as correct tool use, specifications and instructions.
“High-tech” equipment is used to properly diagnose and repair today’s modern vehicle.
The internet is used for research and procurement of correct parts.
Video demonstrations further reinforce what is learned.

High tech scanners are used to communicate with the on board computers.
Chassis, engine, transmission dynamometers and five gas exhaust analyzers indicate engine efficiency and emission levels.
Special software studies the effects of component change on engine performance and economy.

This course uses the latest computer-aided design software. The class is designed for students pursuing careers in engineering, and mechanical or architectural drafting.

GREEN TECHNOLOGY
Students design a green technology home.
Students research what a green home is and implement examples of green technologies that will result in economic or environmental advantages into their home.
Students design cardboard chairs.
Students design a chair made from recycled cardboard that is strong enough to support the weight of a person.
Health Occupations Program
Provides a solid foundation for work in the healthcare field. 80 hours of theory and 40 hours of clinical class time are taken in preparation for the state licensure examination.
*Bonus*Program is state certified. Students can test to receive a nursing assistant certificate at the end of the class.

Welding Program— Technical Skill Acquisition & Application In the lab setting, students investigate the inner workings of
the machines and see how the development of the microprocessor has reduced size, power consumption, and enhanced usability as compared to older welding machines.
The Welding program also owns a welding simulator for students’ use
SimWelder™ augments traditional training methods by providing significantly more passes to students and provides the instructor with objective feedback. The student enters an interactive virtual environment that merges computer generated data with physical props.
Networking Technology Program—College Credit and Career Options
Class is based on principles and practices of designing, building, and maintaining computer networks. Prepares students to test for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) credential.

The program has a fully equipped lab that allows students hands on experience with equipment such as routers, switches, access points and cable testers.
Sophisticated simulation software allows students to practice their lab assignments anywhere they have internet access.
