Kansas City owns a 54-47-2 advantage over Oakland in regular and postseason play. The Chiefs own 54 victories against the Raiders. The only team the Chiefs have beaten more frequently is Denver (55 wins). The Chiefs are 52-46-1 against Oakland in the regular season and 2-1 in the playoffs. The Raiders registered a 23-20 OT victory thanks to a 33-yard K Sebastian Janikowski FG in the season’s fi rst meeting between the two teams at Oakland (11/7). The Raiders haven’t swept the season series since 2001. The two teams split the series a year ago with Oakland registering a 13-10 decision at Arrowhead (9/20/09), while Kansas City recorded a 16-10 win at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (11/15/09).

The Chiefs are 30-12 (.714) overall vs. the Raiders dating back to ’90, including a ’91 AFC playoff tilt. The Chiefs had a nine-game winning streak snapped in 2007 at home against the Raiders, the longest victory stretch by either squad in this series. That nine-game winning streak against the Raiders ranks as the second-longest mark by the Chiefs against any one opponent, behind an 11-game winning streak over Denver from ’64-69. Kansas City has registered a 14-6 (.700) regular season record against the Raiders at Arrowhead since ’90. Oakland has won three straight games at Arrowhead, tying for the longest stretch of road victories by the Raiders in the series. Kansas City owns a pair of postseason wins against the Raiders, including a 17-7 win in the ’69 AFL Championship Game (1/4/70) that sent the Chiefs to Super Bowl IV. Kansas City also claimed a 10-6 victory in the fi rst postseason contest played at Arrowhead (12/28/91).

Kansas City has already clinched its fi rst AFC West title since 2003 and can secure the third seed in the AFC with a victory at Arrowhead vs. Oakland on Sunday (1/2). The Chiefs are seeking to register a perfect 8-0 record at Arrowhead for just the fourth time in franchise history. Kansas City and New England are the NFL’s only remaining undefeated teams at home this season. The Chiefs are coming off a 34-14 victory vs. Tennessee (12/26) and are aiming to fi nish the regular season with three consecutive wins for the fi rst time since ’86. KC is also seeking to produce a regular season with 11 or more wins for the 10th time in team history. Oakland was eliminated from postseason contention with a 31-26 loss vs. Indianapolis (12/26), but is looking to fi nish the season at 8-8 or better for the fi rst time since going 11-5 in 2002. Under Head Coach Todd Haley, the Chiefs have made a six-game improvement in the win compared to 2009, the biggest one-year turnaround in team history. Haley is the only active head coach to win division titles with fi ve different franchises during his NFL coaching tenure. The Chiefs will put their unblemished home record on the line against a Raiders squad that handed Kansas City a 23-20 OT loss at Oakland (11/7). Kansas City and Pittsburgh have allowed 14 points or less in an NFL-high eight contests. Kansas City owns an 8-0 mark in those games. The Chiefs have permitted a league-low 12.4 ppg in their seven home contests and have limited all of those foes to 20 points or less. The Chiefs are seeking to secure the NFL’s rushing title for the fi rst time since ’95, while RB Jamaal Charles (1,380 yards) is dueling Texans RB Arian Foster (1,436) for the league’s individual rushing crown. RB Thomas Jones (879 yards) needs 121 yards to register his sixth straight 1,000-yard campaign, an accomplishment that would make Kansas City the fi rst team in NFL history with two 1,000-yard rushers and a 1,000-yard receiver. WR Dwayne Bowe (1,094 yards) has a league-high 15 TD catches and would become the fi rst member of the Chiefs to ever pace the NFL in scoring grabs. QB Matt Cassel owns a franchise-best +22 TD/INT differential and is within striking distance of team single-season team records for TD passes (30) and passer rating (101.9). KC has averaged a league-best 192.6 rushing ypg at home and will face an Oakland squad that relinquished 191 ground yards last week vs. the Colts. Chiefs S Eric Berry (117) owns the most tackles by a rookie safety in team history, while TE Tony Moeaki has the most receptions (46) of any Chiefs rookie tight end and is 21 yards shy of the rookie TE yardage record.

Todd Haley was named the 11th head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs on February 6, 2009 and is in his second year leading the Chiefs. Haley is in his 16th season in the NFL in 2010 and his 14th season as an NFL coach after beginning his career as a scouting assistant with the N.Y. Jets in ’95.

Haley joined the Chiefs after a two-year stint as Arizona’s offensive coordinator (2007-08), helping the Cardinals reach Super Bowl XLIII as the club won its first division title since

’75. Under Haley’s direction, the Cardinals ranked third in the league in scoring as Arizona registered a franchise-record 427 points in 2008. The Cardinals also threw a team-record 32 TD passes in 2007. Haley has won five division titles with five different NFL teams. He is the first head coach in Chiefs history to win a division crown in his second season at the helm of the franchise. He served as passing game coordinator/WRs coach under Bill Parcells with Dallas (2004-06) after beginning his career under Parcells with the N.Y. Jets (’97-00). He also served as WRs coach with Chicago (2001-03). Born on February 28, 1967, Haley grew up in Upper St. Clair, PA. He is the son of longtime NFL personnel executive Dick Haley, who helped build the Steelers Super Bowl teams of the ’70s. A ’91 graduate of the University of North Florida, he was a recipient of that school’s 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award.

A SEASON OF PROGRESSSCHOTTENHEIMER ENTERS CHIEFS HALL OF FAME Alumni Weekend at Arrowhead will be highlighted by the induction of former Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer into the Chiefs Hall of Fame. He registered a 101-58-1 (.634) regular season record with Kansas City’s head coach, the highest winning percentage and most victories of any head coach in Chiefs history. During Schottenheimer’s 10-year run as Chiefs head coach from ’89-98, Kansas City compiled 101 regular season victories, the highest total during any 10-year span in the franchise’s storied 51-year history. Schottenheimer guided the club to seven playoff appearances and coached in 10 postseason contests, the highest totals of any KC head coach. Kansas City captured AFC West titles in ’93, ’95 and ’97, in addition to the club’s only appearance in the AFC Championship Game following the ’93 campaign. Schottenheimer’s squads compiled a 55-28 (.663) regular season and postseason record against the AFC West from ’89-98, including a remarkable 18-3 (.857) mark against the Raiders, the best record any coach of a single franchise has ever compiled against the Silver and Black. He concluded his NFL head coaching tenure with a 200-126-1 (.613) regular season record. The four coaches in NFL history with more regular season victories than Schottenheimer are all enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: Don Shula (328), George Halas (318), Tom Landry (250) and Curly Lambeau (226).

THE ARROWHEAD ADVANTAGE

Kansas City and New England are the NFL’s only undefeated teams at home and both have clinched division titles. The Chiefs are seeking to fi nish with a perfect 8-0 record at home for the fourth time in team history. KC previously accomplished the feat in the AFC West title seasons of ’95, ’97 and 2003. The team was also 7-0 at Municipal Stadium in ’71. The Chiefs current seven-game home winning streak is the club’s longest since posting a franchise-record 13-game victory stretch at Arrowhead from 2002-03. The Chiefs are allowing a league-low 12.4 ppg at home and have outscored their opponents at Arrowhead by an average of 13.6 ppg (182-87). KC is the only team that has held all of its home opponents to 20 points or less. The Chiefs are 9-1 when holding their opponents to 20 points or less in all games in 2010, including six consecutive victories. The Raiders are 4-17 (.190) dating back to 2009 when allowing 20 points or more and are 1-9 on the road in such games. KC and Pittsburgh are tied for the NFL lead, holding eight opponents to 14 points or less in all games. Both clubs are 8-0 when they accomplish that feat. Kansas City is 6-1 in 2010 when scoring 30 points or more, including a 4-0 mark at Arrowhead. The Raiders have lost 24 straight games when allowing 30 points or more dating back to a 31-30 loss at Arrowhead (12/25/04). Kansas City is 3-1 in regular season games played in January at Arrowhead. BEST TURNAROUND IN CHIEFS HISTORY

The Chiefs have registered a six-game improvement in the win column, the largest one-year victory jump in team history. Dating back to the 2003 campaign, the Chiefs are one of 13 teams that have gone from “worst to fi rst” in their division. Last season New Orleans claimed a victory in Super Bowl XLIII after fi nishing the 2008 season fourth in the NFC South at 8-8.

CHIEFS SEEK NFL’S FIRST 1,000-YARD TRIO

The Chiefs are seeking to become the fi rst team in NFL history to produce two 1,000-yard rushers and a 1,000-yard receiver in the same season. RB Thomas Jones (879 yards) needs 121 yards to join RB Jamaal Charles (1,380) as the seventh 1,000-yard rushing tandem in league annals. Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (1,094) has already reached that plateau. Charles and Jones are the most prolifi c seasonal rushing duo in team history with 2,259 combined yards and no other pair of NFL teammates have as many ground yards as this tandem in 2010. Kansas City leads the NFL, averaging 167.5 rushing ypg, a fi gure that would rank as the third-highest seasonal total in KC history. The team record is 213.3 rushing ypg established in ’78. The Chiefs last won the NFL’s rushing crown in ’95 (138.9 ypg). Kansas City has an NFL-high six games with over 200 team rushing yards in 2010, owning a 5-1 record in those contests. November 7, 2010 • Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum • 61,075

The Chiefs had a seven-game road winning streak at Oakland snapped as K Sebastian Janikowski drilled a 33-yard FG in overtime to give Oakland a 23-20 victory.

After a scoreless first quarter a defensive pass interference call put the Chiefs at the Oakland 14-yard line. On third and two, Cassel hit TE Tony Moeaki for five yards to the Oakland one-yard line. Moeaki’s catch was initially ruled a TD, but was challenged by the Raiders. The play was overturned, and QB Matt Cassel ran for an apparent TD on the next play, but a holding penalty moved the ball back to the 11. Cassel hit WR Verran Tucker in the back of the end zone for an 11-yard TD to put the Chiefs up 7-0.

LB Derrick Johnson forced a RB Darren McFadden fumble on the Raiders ensuing possession that was recovered by DE Wallace Gilberry at the Oakland 26-yard line. After failing to pick up the first down, Chiefs K Ryan Succop sent a 43-yard FG through the uprights to extend the Chiefs lead to 10-0. CB Javier Arenas appeared to give the Chiefs a 17-0 edge when he returned an Oakland punt for a 72-yard TD, but the play was nullified by an illegal block in the back.

Cassel hit Moeaki for 23 yards on a wheel route up the left sideline, pushing the ball to the Kansas City 47-yard line. On third and nine, Cassel connected with WR Terrance Copper for 20 yards. Cassel then found Bowe for nine yards, bringing Succop onto the field for a 41-yard FG attempt. A holding penalty negated the FG and pushed the attempt back to 51 yards. Succop then tried a pooch punt that rolled into the end zone.

On the Raiders next play, S Jon McGraw intercepted a QB Jason Campbell pass at the Oakland 45-yard line. The Chiefs had a golden scoring opportunity, but Cassel had a pass tipped into the arms of Raiders CB Jeremy Ware in the end zone.

On the second-half kickoff Oakland WR Jacoby Ford scampered for a 94-yard TD, making the score 10-7. Arenas then fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Raiders recovered at the Chiefs 34-yard line. The Chiefs defense held and Janikowski’s 47-yard FG attempt went wide left, leaving the Chiefs lead at 10-7.

On KC’s next possession the Chiefs were able to knock through a Succop 25-yard FG to make the score 13-7 with 9:41 left in the third period. The Raiders answered with seven points of their own. Campbell found T Khalif Barnes, who had reported as a tackle eligible, in the end zone giving Oakland a 14-13 lead. The Raiders were driving again, but the Chiefs forced a 23 yard Janikowski FG to make the count 17-13.

The Chiefs went three and out but LB Demorrio Williams forced a fumble on the Oakland punt return that was recovered by Tucker at the Oakland 30-yard line. Facing third and 11, Cassel hit WR Dwayne Bowe in the end zone for a 20-yard TD, giving the Chiefs the 20-17 lead with 6:13 left to play in the fourth quarter.

After exchanging punts, Campbell hit Ford for 29 yards and a first down. Oakland spiked the ball and Janikowski kicked a 42-yard FG to tie the game at 20-20.

Kansas City got the ball to start overtime but went three and out, giving Oakland the ball at its own 38-yard line. On Oakland’s first play, Campbell hit Ford for a 47-yard gain to the Kansas City 15. Janikowski’s 33-yard field goal attempt split the uprights giving Oakland the 23-20 win.

THE LAST GAMEChiefs 34, Titans 14Chiefs 34, Titans 14

December 26, 2010 • Arrowhead Stadium • 65,606

The Chiefs used an explosive 31-point first half en route to a 34-14 win over the Tennessee Titans at Arrowhead Stadium, pushing the Chiefs to a pristine 7-0 record at home. The game was highlighted by a 75-yard TD strike from QB Matt Cassel to WR Dwayne Bowe in the second quarter, while S Eric Berry registered a 54-yard INT return for a TD with less than a minute left in the first half. RB Jamaal Charles set a career high with a pair of TD catches. Kansas City registered 458 total yards of offense in the contest, tallying 306 yards through the air and 152 yards on the ground. The Chiefs limited Tennessee to 270 total yards and only 57 rushing yards. The Chiefs took the opening kickoff and marched 69 yards in seven plays to grab a 7-0 lead on a 14-yard TD pass from Cassel to Charles on a screen pass. Cassel opened the game with eight straight completions, while the Chiefs scored on their first four possessions. Tennessee moved the ball to the Chiefs 38-yard line where LB Andy Studebaker sacked QB Kerry Collins for a one-yard loss. Collins’ fourth-down pass fell incomplete, giving the Chiefs the ball back at their own 38-yard line. Cassel and company quickly moved into Titans territory highlighted by a 17-yard catch by TE Tony Moeaki. Cassel hit Charles coming out of the backfield for a five-yard TD to put the Chiefs up 14-0. The Chiefs defense forced a three and out on Tennessee’s next drive K Ryan Succop booted a 35-yard FG through the uprights to put the Chiefs up 17-0 with 11:31 left in the first half. Following a Tennessee punt, Cassel scrambled 16 yards for a first down. Moeaki hauled in an eight-yard pass, but an unnecessary roughness penalty against the Chiefs pushed the offense back 15 yards. Following the penalty, Cassel found Bowe for a 75-yard TD catch and run, putting the Chiefs up 24-0. The two teams traded punts on their next possessions. On the first play after the Chiefs punt, Collins connected with WR Kenny Britt for a 53-yard TD to cut into the Chiefs lead, making the score 24-7 with 4:15 left in the first half. The Chiefs then moved the ball to the Tennessee 30-yard line. Succop attempted a 47-yard FG that fell just shy of the crossbar. On the Titans following possession, S Eric Berry stepped in front of Collins’ pass and returned it 54 yards for a TD to put the Chiefs up 31-7 at intermission. Succop hit a 42-yard FG after the break to give the Chiefs a 34-7 lead with 5:43 left to go in the third quarter. The Titans responded when Collins hit TE Jared Cook for 22 yards and a TD to cut the Chiefs lead to 34-14. Tennessee was offsides as it attempted and recovered an onside kick, then proceeded to kick it deep. QB Brodie Croyle entered the game for Cassel and on his second pass, the ball was tipped into the air and intercepted by LB Will Witherspoon and returned to the Kansas City 48-yard line. A Collins’ pass on the ensuing Titans possession was intercepted by CB Brandon Carr as he ripped the ball away from Britt at the Chiefs nine-yard line. Cassel re-entered the game on Kansas City’s next series. RB Thomas Jones had the ball stripped by DT Jason Jones and it was recovered by S Chris Hope at the Tennessee 19-yard line. The Chiefs defense forced a three and out and a Tennessee punt, effectively ending the contest.

GAME NOTES• C Casey Wiegmann extended his streak of consecutive snaps at center to 10,069 dating back to 9/23/01.• The Chiefs have registered a six-game improvement in the win column compared to 2009, the biggest one-year improvement in franchise history.
