STUDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SMS)

Objective :

The objective of this Project is to manage student data for education establishments. Student management system (SMS) helps the staff to register a new candidate, track and modify all details of a student from the day one to the end of his course. It also helps Students to view their academic details and stay updated for coming semester year curriculum details.

Abstract:

Student management system deals with all kinds of student details like personal and batch details, academic related Reports, tracking of attendance, completed semesters years, fee status, library details, e-notice and other details. This application can be used to reduce time consuming processes in manual system and also reduces manpower cost. Here almost all work is computerized. So the accuracy is maintained. Maintaining backup is very easy and can be used for future references too.

Our system has two types of accessing modes, administrator and user. Student management system is managed by an administrator. It is the job of the administrator to insert, update and monitor the whole process.

The student is provided with a login id and password by the administrator. When a student log in to the system, He has only view access. He can’t perform any changes. Each student data is confidential.

Description:

There are 8 maps and 6 Database tables used. All tables are created using SQL queries. Student details are stored in DB2 tables using SQL queries through COBOL program and displayed on

the CICS screen as per student request. Insertion, update, view are also done using SQL queries through COBOL program but only by

administrator.

Conclusion:

Student management system provides an easy and efficient storage, retrieval, update and new registration of information related to student. It is fully computerized and can make the system easier to navigate and to use maximizing the effectiveness of time and other resources.
