Johnny H. Hager Johnny Harold Hag- er, age 92, of of Hwy. 134, Hazel Green, Ky., passed away Sun- day, Oct. 24, 2021, in the Wolfe County Health & Re- habilitation Center, Campton, Ky., following an extended illness. He was born June 27, 1929, in Campton, Ky., to John W. Hager and Bessie Sallie Hager. Johnny was a retired Mor- gan County school bus driver and a farmer. Survivors include his niece, Joyce Calloway, of Hazel Green, Ky. Alvin R. Howard Alvin Ray Howard, of Shelbyville, Ky., passed away Thurs- day, Oct. 21, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family at the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 12 days. He was born Friday, July 9, 1943, at Cannel City, Ky., son of the late Walter “Cooch” and Wilma Jane Benton Howard. Alvin was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His family meant the world to him. Alvin served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. He retired from Kentucky State Government, and later from the Oldham County School District. He was a member of the Masons and the Shriners. Alvin was saved on Feb. 16, 2017, and was baptized on June 18, 2017. He was a member of the House of Prayer Ministry. If you were ever lost, Alvin was the person to call. He gave better directions that any GPS. He was also an avid musician whose talent on the banjo and guitar were unmatched. He dearly loved Bluegrass music and would travel many miles for a jam session. He was privileged to play music with Gary Clinton Rose G a r y Clinton Rose, 73, of Hazel Green, Kentucky, departed this life on Mon- day, October 18, 2021, surrounded by his loving fam- ily. He was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, on January 5, 1948, to Wilma Clay Cecil Rose and Robert Clinton Rose. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Julie Cathe- rine Rose Rogers and husband, Freddie, Amy Christine Rose Terry and husband Wade, and Staci Carin Rose; his cherished grandsons Gary Grant Rogers, Connor Ray Rogers, and Roy Isaac Terry; and loving com- panion, Oletta Dunn; her chil- dren. DeEdra Lindon (Jason), Jonathon Terrill (Kayla), her grandchildren Sierra Faulkner, Dakota Rose, Jayla Lindon, Ryder Lindon, lzabella Terrill, and Kennedy Terrill, and her great-grandchildren, Gavin Brown and Jace Faulkner; his treasured sisters, Wilma Kath- ryn Dennis (James) and Nellie Ann Buchanan (Thomas); his nieces whom he adored, Laura Rose, Sarah Nell, Tiffany Clay, Anna Kate, Ashley Kate, other nieces and nephews, and Craig Lindon, his very close respect- ed friend. A host of cousins, additional family and friends will mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two heavenly nieces. Gary attended private kin- dergarten at Hazel Green Acad- emy at age four. Upon tur- ing five years old he attended Amyx Elementary School, which was a one room school located near Helechawa, Ken- tucky, where he attended grades one through three. He attended Hazel Green Public School grades four through six, which was a four room schoolhouse. Upon completion of the sixth grade, he attended Hazel Green Academy, completing grades seven through twelve. His mother was one of his teach- ers at Hazel Green Academy. After receiving his high school diploma, he attended the Uni- versity of Kentucky, receiving a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate Degree. Later he was honored to be named a UK Fel- low in memory of his mother. Burton Ernest J. Burton, age 83, of Plymouth, Ohio, passed away at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, on Monday, September 6, 2021. He was born November 30, 1937, in Morgan County, Kentucky, to the late Hendrix and Nokie Lee (Vance) Burton. Ernest graduated from Mor- gan County High School, where he played football and baseball. He moved to Ohio in 1959 and to Plymouth in 1963. Ernie was formerly employed by RR Don- nelley for 19 years; In 1979, he left to become an indepen- dent truck driver with Decker Transport, where he remained until his retirement. He was a social member of Plymouth American Legion Post 447, an accomplished bowler and avid golfer. He enjoyed watching Cleveland sports, Ohio State football, western movies and listening to Bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Hager and Bessie Sallie Hager; his wife, Geneva Hager; two sons, Roger Dale Hager and Rodney Harold Hager; one sister, Delena Wil- son; and one brother, James Hager. Funeral services were con- ducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Elam officiating. Burial followed in the Bailey Cemetery, Adele, Ky., with Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in charge of ar- rangements. Pallbearers are Scottie Pay- ton, Edwinna Brown, Ryan Ratliff, Hershel Adkins, Chris- topher Brown and Robbie Bradley. Addie Earl Stevens Administration. He gradu- ated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1977, following five and a half years of military service in the United States Air Force. Gary practiced law in the 39th Judicial District of Kentucky, consisting of Breathitt, Wolfe, and Powell Counties. He served as Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for five and a half years, Wolfe County Attorney of multiple terms, and Assistant Wolfe County Attorney for one term. He was the first Trial Commissioner in the Wolfe District Court from January through June 1978. In addition, he served as Master Com- missioner, Special Commis- sioner, and Domestic Relations Commissioner in many circuit court cases. Gary served as a volunteer firefighter for fifteen years after securing funding for creation of today’s Hazel Green Volunteer Fire Department. For several years, he was the Direc- tor of Emergency Services for Wolfe County. Gary was also instrumental in facilitating numerous community entities and services for the Common- wealth. Special projects includ- ed the Wolfe County Judicial Building, implementation of the first child support system for Wolfe County and numer- ous infrastructure enhance- ments. Following retirement, his commitments and dedica- tion lay with the Grand Lodge of Kentucky and the Masonic Homes. Gary leaves behind a legacy of public service and community involvement. His lifetime goal was to leave this world a better place than he found it, which he certainly achieved. However, his greatest honor in life was his three girls and being called Daddy. Funeral services were con- ducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Porter and Son Funeral Directors Chapel with Will Cooper officiating. Masonic rites were held at 12:00 p.m. at Wolfe County High School Gymnasium prior to funeral services. Burial fol- lowed at Hazel Green Cem- etery, Hazel Green, Kentucky. Pallbearers were Freddie Rogers, Wade Terry, Gary Grant Rogers, Connor Ray Rogers, Isaac Terry and Craig Lindon. Honorary pallbearers were his many family members, friends and Masonic Brothers. Arrangements were entrust- ed to Porter and Son Funeral Directors in Campton, Ken- tucky. Robert J. Brewer Robert J. Brewer, 65, of Campton, Kentucky, departed this life Tuesday, October 19, 2021. He was the son of the late James and Flossie M. Hol- lon Brewer, born in Campton, Kentucky, on October 30, 1955. He was a heavy equipment op- erator for Hinkle Contracting Corporation, and he was also a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by three sons, Robert L. Brewer of Campton, Kentucky, Robert "R. J." Bass and Zach Curry (Joyce), both of Morehead, Kentucky; three daughters, Makayla Wright (Randy) of West Liberty, Ken- tucky, Susan White (Randy) and Heather Epple (Wes), both of Campton, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Michelle Brewer, R. J. Whisman, Bre- onna Whisman, Shayla Wright, Daniel White, Lauren White, Gannon Bass and Shavaeh Ep- ple; three great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mildred Patton and Dorothy Patton, both of Campton, Kentucky. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Flossie M. Hollon Brewer, and two sis- ters, Betty Patton and Thelma Spencer. Funeral services were con- ducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021, at Porter and Son Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. David Spencer of- ficiating. Burial followed at Raymond Patton Cemetery, Campton, Kentucky. Pallbearers were Hershell Tester, Henry King, Jeff Patton, Perry Tolson, R.J. Bass and Robert L. Brewer. He and I were two years apart in age. I would go visit him in Elliott County and spend time wth him, I remem- ber all the good timnes we spent together. My heart is broken by his loss I loved him very much. Someday, we will meet again in Heaven around God’s great white throne where all is peace and love and happiness for ever more. He was always special to me. He was son of Isaac and Cynthia Stevens of Elliott County, the father of 12 children, all deceased except three. Howard, of Shelbyville, Ky., passed away Thurs-day, Oct. 21, 2021, at his r e s i d e n c e surrounded by his loving family at the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 12 days.

Alvin is survived by his daughter, Tammy Martin, of Shelbyville, KY; his son, Kevin Howard, of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Brittany Elrod (Jacob), Brianna How-ard and Austin Howard; eight great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Elrod, Thomas Elrod, Matthew Elrod, Jonathan Elrod, Elijah Elrod, Noah Elrod, Ella Dennis and Jett Mullins; two sisters, Helen Cravens, of Cannel City, Ky., and Kathy Adkins (Garry), of Columbus, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Janet Howard, of Can-nel City, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services and buri-al were held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the Morris Cem-etery, Caney, Ky., with Bro. Bob Hall officiating and Potter Funeral Home in charge of ar-rangements.

Morgan County DAV Ch conducted military rites at the graveside.

Pallbearers were Austin Howard, Dane Cravens, Brax-ton Howard, Bryce Howard, Jake Henry, Norman Howard and Jerry Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Hager and Bessie Sallie Hager; his wife, Geneva Hager; two sons, Roger Dale Hager and Rodney Harold Hager; one sister, Delena Wil-son; and one brother, James Hager.

Funeral services were con-ducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Elam officiating. Burial followed in the Bailey Cemetery, Adele, Ky., with Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in charge of ar-rangements.

Administration. He gradu-ated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1977, following five and a half years of military service in the United States Air Force. Gary practiced law in the 39th Judicial District of Kentucky, consisting of Breathitt, Wolfe, and Powell Counties. He served as Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for five and a half years, Wolfe County Attorney of multiple terms, and Assistant Wolfe County Attorney for one term. He was the first Trial Commissioner in the Wolfe District Court from January through June 1978. In addition, he served as Master Com-missioner, Special Commis-sioner, and Domestic Relations Commissioner in many circuit court cases. Gary served as a volunteer firefighter for fifteen years after securing funding for creation of today’s Hazel Green Volunteer Fire Department. For several years, he was the Direc-tor of Emergency Services for Wolfe County. Gary was also instrumental in facilitating numerous community entities and services for the Common-wealth. Special projects includ-ed the Wolfe County Judicial Building, implementation of the first child support system for Wolfe County and numer-ous infrastructure enhance-ments. Following retirement, his commitments and dedica-tion lay with the Grand Lodge of Kentucky and the Masonic Homes. Gary leaves behind a legacy of public service and community involvement. His lifetime goal was to leave this world a better place than he found it, which he certainly achieved. However, his greatest honor in life was his three girls and being called Daddy.

Funeral services were con-ducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Porter and Son Funeral Directors Chapel with Will Cooper officiating. Masonic rites were held at 12:00 p.m. at Wolfe County High School Gymnasium prior to funeral services. Burial fol-lowed at Hazel Green Cem-etery, Hazel Green, Kentucky.

Pallbearers were Freddie Rogers, Wade Terry, Gary Grant Rogers, Connor Ray Rogers, Isaac Terry and Craig Lindon.

Honorary pallbearers were his many family members, friends and Masonic Brothers.

Brewer, 65, of Campton, K e n t u c k y, departed this life Tuesday, October 19, 2021. He was the son of the late James and Flossie M. Hol-lon Brewer, born in Campton, Kentucky, on October 30, 1955. He was a heavy equipment op-erator for Hinkle Contracting Corporation, and he was also a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by three sons, Robert L. Brewer of Campton, Kentucky, Robert "R. J." Bass and Zach Curry (Joyce), both of Morehead, Kentucky; three daughters, Makayla Wright (Randy) of West Liberty, Ken-tucky, Susan White (Randy) and Heather Epple (Wes), both of Campton, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Michelle Brewer, R. J. Whisman, Bre-onna Whisman, Shayla Wright,

Daniel White, Lauren White, Gannon Bass and Shavaeh Ep-ple; three great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mildred Patton and Dorothy Patton, both of Campton, Kentucky. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Flossie M. Hollon Brewer, and two sis-ters, Betty Patton and Thelma Spencer.

Funeral services were con-ducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021, at Porter and Son Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. David Spencer of-ficiating. Burial followed at Raymond Patton Cemetery, Campton, Kentucky.

Pallbearers were Hershell Tester, Henry King, Jeff Patton, Perry Tolson, R.J. Bass and Robert L. Brewer. Honorary pallbearers were Hunter Patton and Carter Patton.

many years and with many medals. He and I were two years apart in age. I would go visit him in Elliott County and spend time wth him, I remem-ber all the good timnes we spent together. My heart is broken by his loss I loved him very much. Someday, we will meet again in Heaven around God’s great white throne where all is peace and love and happiness for ever more. He was always special to me. He was son of Isaac and Cynthia Stevens of Elliott County, the father of 12 children, all deceased except three.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by sister, Alpha Clevenger, and all his family.
