TRANSCRIPT

  • Gary Fisher Fat PossumRear Pivot Assembly

  • 1. Undo the main swing arm clamp bolts with 5mm hex key

  • 2. Loosen and remove the main pivot bolts, eccentric washer, bearing and axle spacer with 8mm hex key & red Park peg spanner

  • 3. When main pivot bolts are removed from both sides, the whole assembly should come away. There is no Loctite retainer on bearing. Be aware main pivot bolt has high strength threadlocker, so some heat may need to be applied to weaken the bonded bolt thread

  • 4. Here is the complete parts removed from main pivot axle assembly (both sides). If any parts are worn then replace before refitting

  • 5. Reinstall both main pivot assemblies, with eccentric washer, bearing and spacer. Make sure new high strength threadlock is applied to the main pivot bolt threads. Leave main pivot bolt (8mm head) slightly loose at this stage

  • 6. Check wheel centre- with the eccentric washers (4 peg holes drilled), there is up to 3mm lateral alignment adjustment. Stand behind the bike and align a rear wheel to the seat tube. Also check spacing either side of the swingarm to the seat tube for equal distances.

  • 7. Make any adjustments to both or one side as is necessary. Rotate the eccentric washers with a Park Peg Spanner, whilst checking for the spacing on the seat tube/ swing arm junctionMake sure main pivot axle bolt is slightly loose

  • 8. Recheck the rear wheel centre distance and alignment

  • 9. Once alignment is OK hold the eccentric washers in place and tighten the 8mm pivot bolt to 14-22Nm. Then clamp the 5mm headed pinch bolts to 14-17Nm

  • All parts available from Trek Technical Services.
