GMA "efficient", a product of experienceSchneider Electric has developed gas-insulated switchgear specially dedicated to Medium-Voltage networks for more than 30 years now.The GMA “efficient» range has been specially designed on the basis of this extensive experience. The first GMA cubicles have been on the market since 1995.The challenge with this new GMA stage has been to merge the experience learned from more than 50,000 first-generation GMA cubicles installed worldwide with the ever-increasing needs of MV switchboard users.

A wide choice of configurationsThe GMA "efficient" range covers all the usual functions required in Medium-Voltage switchboards such as outgoing and incoming feeder panels which are supplemented by couplings, busbar risers and fuse-switch disconnector combinations.

Safety above all • Safe by design - Due to their design, GMA "efficient" cubicles cannot be affected by moisture, dirt or polluted operating environments, since all high-voltage parts are contained in a tightly sealed stainless steel tank. - An easy-to-understand system, including mechanical and electrical interlocks to prevent operating errors.- Prevention of possibly dangerous design (for example, no Voltage Transformer positioned above the fully insulated busbar).

• Internal arc withstand, tested and certified according to IEC 62271-200.All compartments are internal arc tested.- Cable compartment.- Circuit breaker compartment.- Busbar compartment.Thus, GMA "efficient" switchgears assemblies are fully tested for resistor earthed grids and isolated grids.

Simplicity - "Intuitive operation" as a trademark● Intuitive operationThe mechanical operation panel is a trademark for Schneider Electric Gas-Insulated Switchgear- Intuitive design.- Clear positioning of operating and indicating elements in a mimic diagram.- Position indication and operating elements are mechanically independent of the auxiliary voltage.- Integrated mechanical interlocks can be included on option for fully remote control.

● Operation heights ergonomically designed● The cubicle architecture and component location are designed to ensure easy, safe operations during the installation, operating and maintenance phases. Four examples regarding Voltage Transformers (VT):- No VT mounting on site. - VT’s on cable side or busbar are fixed to the cubicle and mounted and tested in the factory.- Both VT’s, cable side or busbar, can be executed with a disconnecting switch.- The operating handle for the VT disconnecting switch is positioned at the front of the switchgear, behind the cable compartment cover (see picture).

Environment-minded● Environmentally friendly construction- Gas weight 50% lower than in customary GIS devices in this market segment.- Volume and weight reduced by 20% meaning less transport resources, less materials needed etc.- 15% less power consumption in primary part.
