“ GASWORKS RES IDENCES IS A

FINELY CRAFTED BESPOKE BUILDING

RESULTING IN A CELE BRATION OF

SUBTROPICAL DESIGN”

When designing the new Gasworks Residences our vision was to create a unique and

contemporary residential development which complemented the existing historic

Gasometer structure. The 15 story sculptural tower rests on a landscaped podium

base with a boutique retail environment and upmarket lobby entrances below forming

vibrant active edges to both Longland Street and the Gasometer.

Distinctive open air light filled landscaped voids form elevated sky gardens through the

spine of the building. Each sky garden is treated as an urbane scale verandah and acts

as a visual conduit between the Gasometer and the City.

The design integrates several sustainable devices including sun shade elements such

as sliding screens, operable louvres and green walls. Landscape is used as a major part

of the architectural palette with a verdant rooftop recreation deck culminating in the

crown to the building.

The facades are richly detailed and highly crafted using tapestry of materials with

contribute to the overall bespoke quality of the building. The culmination of the design

process has delivered village style living within an elegant building which celebrates

subtropical design.
