Phone Settings

Phone NTP Reference ensures that a Cisco IP

SIP phone gets its date and time from the NTP

server. If NTP servers do not respond, the

Cisco IP SIP phoneuses the date header in

the 200 OK response.

▪ Date/time groups define time zones for devices that are connected to Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

A SIP profile comprises the set of SIP attributes that

are associated with SIP trunks and SIP endpoints.

PSTN Access Digit Manipulation Example

Step Description

1 Extension 1005 dials 913035556007.

2 Dialed number matches 9.!. route pattern configured with the following:

• Called-party transformations > Discard digits: PreDot

• Calling-party transformations: 40855530XX

3 Cisco Unified Communications Manager strips off (discards) digit 9 from the dialed number and

sends 13035556007 to PSTN via the Gateway, after modifying the calling-party number from 1005

to 408 5553005.

4 The PSTN phone 303 5556007 rings and sees 408 5553005 as the calling number.

Digit Manipulation Flow Example (Incoming Call from PSTN)

Step Description

1 PSTN phone dials 14085553010; PSTN switch routes the call to the gateway and Cisco Unified CM.

2 • Incoming called dialed number matches 40855530XX translation pattern, configured as follows:

– Called-party transformation > Called-party transform mask: 10XX

– (Optional) Calling-party transformation > Prefix digit: 91

3 • Cisco Unified CM translates 408 5553010 to 1010.

• Cisco Unified CM looks up 1010 and finds a registered phone with that directory number.

4 Cisco Unified CM presents the call to extension 1010. The Cisco Unified CM optionally (see Step 2)

prefixes the calling number with 91 to allow the internal user to call back the PSTN caller from an IP

phone via the Directory button.
