From the Editor:Dear Readers,Aww, the decade of the 60’s…what a great time to be alive.

As we approach 1970, we look back at the psychedelic decade behind us. This month we will look at the “long strange trip it’s been” (to quote the Grateful Dead!) and see our favorite things.

The inspiration for this month’s issue came from our readers…those who have rallied for peace, love and happiness.

So, sit back and enjoy the ride again! Stay grooovy, man!!!

First the miniskirt…then the mini-dress…then hot pants. Never has being short been such a great thing.

Balenciaga: The man behind the Gowns

He can do it all…He can draw.He can sew.He can create art.He is a true designer. If you need proof, turn the page…

The Eyes Have It…The eyes have been the emphasis this decade. Lots of color; lots of drama; lots of playful.

Q&A with TwiggyGNM: What were you like before modeling?

Twiggy: I was a very, very shy, insecure teenager. I loved fashion and clothes. . . . [W]e didn’t have the money to go and buy much. My elder sister used to get the fashion magazines and I would go through them and find things I liked and buy fabric and copy them. But I hated what I looked like. I mean I was sooo skinny.

GNM: Who gave you the nickname of “Twiggy”? How did you take it?

Twiggy : My boyfriend’s brother, my co-worker, called me “Sticks,” “Twig,” and “Twiggy.” There were other comments: “The new look of the sixties is the woman, and the Twig ain’t a woman,” from a photographer or a cab driver says: “Well, you’ve got a pretty face, but you’re no Marilyn Monroe.” I just laughed.

GNM: You’ve appeared in Vogue and Elle, where else do you plan to model.

Twiggy : I am about to start my runway modeling for her my Twiggy Dresses. You can’t do both—photo shoots and fashion shows—and the top girls are photographic only. Given the fact that nothing ever fitted me (what you don’t see in the photographs is the bulldog clips and safety pins at the back), it’s a good thing. But the Twiggy Dresses were made with me in mind.

GNM: Good luck with your line. We can’t wait to see it!
