Gauge of our Times Therefore I , a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.Ephesians 4:1 As I write this article, it is still feeling like summer. Normally, by this time in September the temperatures have begun feeling a little more like fall, but this morning the humidity and heat made it feel more like June than like September. There are certain expectations I have of fall and what it should feel like and the weather this year is just not reaching those expectations. There are certain expectations that being a Christian have in the minds of others and in the heart of the Lord. Paul, writing from imprisonment, asks the Ephesians to live according to the expectations of a Christian. Paul could not be there to live the example before them and yet what they chose to do reflected on him and on the other Christians in the first century. The truth of the matter is that how we choose to live our Christian life reflects on others. We are not just representing ourselves out in the world. We are representing Christ, the church, and all other Christians as well. So many have struggled with coming to Christ, because of the way they have been treated by a person who called him or herself a Christian or by observing someone who made that claim do and say things that reflected badly on the image of Christ. This is why Paul begged them to live their lives in a worthy manner according to their calling. People are watching each and every one of us and how we conduct ourselves in public, on line, in church, and yes, even at home. These can cause a false image of Christianity or a great resounding witness for what Christ can do in a life. You have opportunities to represent Christ and help others in our church this month. I hope each of you will attend every worship service we have this month, including our Sunday Evening services in the Fellowship hall, beginning the first Sunday of October at 6pm. Brother Charles McBay will be leading the singing and different people will be bringing a devotional each Sunday. Dont forget Wednesday night activities as well. Adults, put on your calendar our Adult Sunday School Social on October 11 at 7pm and please plan to attend. It will be a potluck as usual. You can also come to the Bible Study with the Pastor on October 18 at 7pm. We will continue our study of the Seven Churches in Revelation. An outreach activity for this month is our Trunk or Treat on October 31. Contact Candace and our Childrens Committee if you would like to help with this event. They will be asking for candy donations I am sure during this month and you can help with that also. I hope you will take advantage of these opportunities and all other doors God gives you this month to serve Him and be the witness we all need to be to the world. God bless each of you. As always, I look forward to seeing you in church during this month. Hope to see you in church this Sunday and at many other activities this month. In Christ, Proud to be your Pastor, In His Service, Brother Floyd Gage NEWS FROM THE YOUTH I would like to welcome Sheila Lewis to the Youth Committee. I would also like to thank the church for their continued prayers and support of the Youth Ministry and its growth. This month the youth will be helping the children’s committee with Trunk or Treat on October 31st. We hope all will come out to see how the trunks are decorated and to join in fun. The Youth Committee has planned many activities for the next year. Information will be given to the church about a month before each activity. With love to all, The Youth Committee

Gauge of our Times

“Therefore I , a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.” Ephesians 4:1

As I write this article, it is still feeling like summer. Normally, by this time in September the temperatures have begun feeling a little more like fall, but this morning the humidity and heat made it feel more like June than like September. There are certain expectations I have of fall and what it should feel like and the weather this year is just not reaching those expectations. I hope each of you will attend every worship service we have this month, including our Sunday Evening services in the Fellowship hall, beginning the first Sunday of October at 6pm. The Very Best Pastor Appreciation

by Paul Berchtold,

This poem, Pastor, is just for you,

We want to give our best, But wait 'til heaven, wait 'til heaven,

The place of happy rest.

Today it's time to decorate To thank you is our duty,

But wait 'til heaven, where you'll see, Most brilliant stunning beauty.

Today we're here to say our thanks,

With voices loud and fervent, But wait 'til heaven, when you hear,

Well done, good faithful servant.

Today we're pleased to honor you, Recite some poetry with charm.

But wait 'til heaven when you feel, God's gentle loving arm.

Today we'll even try to sing, A hymn, a song, a melody,

But wait 'til heaven, you'll float away, When angels sing in harmony.

Today we'd like to hug and kiss you,

Give you big embraces, But wait 'til heaven when God showers,

The biggest of His graces.

Today we celebrate with food and drink, A feast for you, our Pastor,

But wait till heaven when you join, The banquet of the Master.

Today we bring a gift or two,

The best we can afford, But wait 'til heaven to receive,

An eternal reward.

Today we take a little break, You work with zeal and zest. But wait 'til Heaven to enjoy,

Forever Peace and rest.

Today is passing, we're growing old, This life grows wearisome,

Let's all remember time will end, The best is yet to come.

Today it's best we stop and pray,

Our prayers to God we send, That He a special place reserve,

A place for you, dear friend.

Being the Living Word

Psalm 119:11

Lord, Help My Pastor

by, Patricia Bankhead Lord, help my Pastor, I pray There are many obstacles in his way Every burden help him to bear Dear Lord, keep him in Your tender care Give him strength and the ability To care for the church and his family Lord, there is so much he has to do He can't do alone, he surely needs You So shelter him in Your loving arms Safe from all danger and unseen harm Guard his mouth, his heart and mind Remove every tittle of sin and pride Keep him in the hour of temptation May he not be moved by Satan's persuasion Remove all fears, Lord, remove all doubt By Your Spirit, Lord, be in his mouth So that he will speak a word that is due And bring Your dear people closer to You In Jesus Name, Amen.

The Technology Committee would like to welcome two new members. Reese Lockett and Sheila Lewis. Hopefully they will receive a blessing and will enjoy helping to make the worship service a place where we can all come and truly praise God. There is much to learn when using the computer and the sound board so we hope the church will be patient with all of us.

Choir News

Choir rehearsals resumed in August after taking a short summer break. Even though the weather outside is still very hot, we are rehearsing for Christmas! The cantata will be presented in early December during the morning services. We would love to have some new members join us in our cantata rehearsals! If you love to worship the Lord through song, this is the perfect place for you! Wednesday’s at 6:00 pm!

Joyfully, Gale
