The Winner

Polskie Radio, with the prototype here, won the hackdays. The team developed a two-fold project: a virtual election ring and an archive platform.

Virtual election ring

In Poland, before the first round of the Polish presidential, there are no TV or radio debates between the candidates. It is therefore difficul for voters to confront the candidates’ opinion and make an informed choice. To solve this issue, Polskie Radio created a “virtual candidates’ ring”. First, users select the two candidates they would like to see debating.

Then they can listen to one-minute audio snippets of speech of each candidate on diffe ent topics. For every topic, users can vote for or against the opinion expressed by the diffe ent candidates. After having listened to the diffe ent extracts and voted for their favourite opinions, the users can discover who is the candidate that is the closest to their opinions and how compared this percentage with the other users.

The Jury thought that Polskie Radio made a perfect use of the limited time of the hackdays. They identify a specifi gap in the offe of political news and implemented an efficien and creative product to fill it. They made the most of their specific assets by investing on their audio expertise.

Voices from the past

Polskie Radio’s project also lets users listen to a selection of speeches given by prominent Polish public figu es from the last decades, who explain the importance of voting. It is a smart way to resurface the precious archives gathered by Polskie Radio and make the most of this evergreen content to engage users to vote.

The teams also developed other features (timelines, polls visualisations, etc). These features were less original but still interesting for the users that can enjoy the smooth user experience and sleek interface that prevail in all parts of the prototype.

App of cards aims at better analysing the

electoral campaign. It allows users to visualize, monitor and understand

the conversations around campaign on social media

Special MentionsBrief won a special mention for App of cards. App of cards aims at better analysing the electoral campaign. It allows its users to visualize, monitor and understand the conversations around the campaign on social media, online forums, blogs or websites. It shows how the buzz around each candidate correlates with his/her polls’ results. Thus it enables to assess the effect veness of political marketing during the campaign.

After the elections, the users will discover the cost of acquisition per vote for each candidate. Brief will collect data on the number of votes gained and spending on campaigns and that will allow them to estimate the cost of acquisition of one vote.

TVN won a special mention for Project Bridgecast. Project Bridgecast is a second-screen app that will be available on smartphones, tablets and smartwatches. It will offer its users a personalized and interactive news experience and will also allow them to answer surveys whose results will be broadcast during the live political shows. TVN will also use the Mamprawowiedziec.pl API to enable the users to monitor the electoral promises.

The features of the app will evolved throughout the three phases of the election (campaign - election silence - results).
