What Stays the Same
General structure & menus will be
similar to our current website
GCC is the only college that will have
people that are not members of the web
team make changes to page content
Changes will still need to be approved,
(moderated) by Marketing
-
Migration Process
Based on our current site the Web Team
will build out empty pages for each
department
Web Editors will go to training with
CTLE
During training the editor will be trained
how to copy content from the old site to
the new empty pages
 Marketing will review and “publish”
-
Important Changes
 Employee Directory
Move to Employee Profiles in College 2.0
Specific People only: “Residential” Faculty & Some Staff (Directors and above)
Profile Pages created “by request” via form
Updates from late last year forward will be considered as “request” and a Profile page will be created.
Shortly after Spring Break we will stop accepting changes to Directory pages on the current website, focus on new site only
-
Changes…
 Employee Directory
No list of classes as “Courses I Teach” section on the page
“Classes I Teach” button will be a link to “Find A Class” (last name only)
 No link to personal website
 Faculty/Staff pages for each department
will need to be maintained completely by
hand.
-
Changes…
 Degree & Cert Pages
District Maintained Fields of Interest (FOI) & Guided Pathways
FOI & Pathways pages cannot be edited by GCC
 No check sheets
 Curriculum will publish and un-publish
FOI & Guided Pathway pages based on
direction from District
-
Changes…
 Heavier focus on “future students”
New site will use Google search
No control over how site is indexed
No control over when new or updated pages will be indexed
No instructional content, only links to
instructional content
 No Syllabi, check sheets, etc.
-
Changes…
Pictures on the new site require different
sizes, may be difficult to reuse existing
pictures
 “Less flexibility” of where pictures,
videos, etc. can be added to the site
Only forms that are student or public
facing. Other forms must be moved to a
different tool
-
Site Improve
We should start scanning our website with Site Improve about the time we start the Preview
Please check Site Improve and update your current web pages so existing misspellings, such as: education, download, feasibility, careers and certificate will not be moved to the new site
We have 29 misspelled words on our current website
-
Next Steps
Web Team will continue to build out the
new site
 CTLE is working on Training

the current website so when you move
your content to the new site it will be up
