EXTRA MONTHLY NEEDS:

Meet GCRM’s New Case Manager For The New Hope Family Shelter

Carrie, the New Hope Family Shelter’s new Case Manager and mother of

three teenagers, says, “The first day at the Mission, I felt anxious and

nervous about coming in, but today, I feel confident, hopeful, and blessed.”

What life circumstances led you to the Mission? My use of drugs caused me to lose my home, after-which I stayed at the home of family members who were also addicts. Eventually, my drug use led me to be court-ordered to attend a licensed addiction treatment program. Once I completed that program and while I was in their after-care program, my counselor recommended that I join the Mission’s Life Skills Program.

How did you feel about your life before you came to the Mission? Even though I was sober when I entered the Mission, at that point in my life, I was confused and still not confident in my life choices. I was also anxious about what I wanted to do with my life.

What are you learning while at the Mission? I am learning to a) forgive myself for the mistakes I have made in my life, b) manage money, c) have boundaries (I don’t have to please everyone and I do need to think about myself), d) know that I’m not responsible for the things that happened to me in my childhood, e) love and forgive myself and others and f) to let God into my heart.

What are you most thankful for? I am most thankful for a) the support from the staff and clients, b) structure, c) education classes such as Genesis Process, Ace, Money Management, Coping Skills, etc, d) reconnecting with God, a local church, and a Bible Study, and e) the beautiful spirit the Mission has towards everyone. Carrie is now the Mission’s New Hope Family Shelter Case Manager. Thank you for your gifts that are helping 39 other women and their 20 children to success!

ello there! Thank you so much for reading our newsletter and respond-

ing with your generous monthly gifts. As you may have noticed, we signed on with a Direct Mail Marketing Company to create our colored monthly appeal letters and quarterly newsletters to keep you

updated on what your gifts are doing to “rescue” the lives of the homeless men, women and children in the Mission programs. These homeless men, women and children depend on your generosity for their basic daily needs such as shelter, meals, clothes, hygiene items, life skills classes, addiction classes and counseling, computer education, and medical care referrals.

With such “structure” and “support” as Carrie mentioned on page 1, mothers and fathers are now able to learn skills they never learned from their parents, to pass along to their children. Your gifts are raising the current and next generations with the knowledge they need to, as Carrie also said, “forgive those in their past who have hurt them and even themselves for their own mistakes”, and to learn new ways of living life, so that they can live it anew, faithfully to God, and therefore successfully.

As Summer nears and you and your family go on vacation, please remember to send in your monthly gifts to continue the work of “rescuing the homeless.” We appreciate you and so do the homeless men, women & children!
