ABILITIES Often, when we talk about Skill – we use

the word ABILITY (they have ability in …)

But, we must understand ABILITY does

not match our ‘definition of skill’

i.e It is not something that we learn

Abilities are inherited qualities

• When we are born, we inherit things from

our parents and family tree

As well as ‘Visible Characteristics, we can

also inherit other similarities

We could be good at Maths, like our Mum

We could find languages easy, like Dad

Also, we could inherit ‘Physical’

characteristics that help us in Sport, PE

and activity

need help from a teacher or Coach.

We need to understand how the Skill is

performed
