Executive overview
• GDSN Major Release 3 is a scheduled update to the
existing GDSN standard.
• The May 2016 update affects 36,000+ companies,
150+ countries and multiple industry sectors
with GDSN-supported supply chains.
• Major Release 3 is not backward compatible, so
significant activity is underway to help all parties
prepare and leverage all its benefits.
The GDSN standards are the protocols used to support real-time electronic sharing of
standardised and accurate information between trading partners using the GDSN data pools.

A new version of the 1WorldSync XML and Schemas
accompany this release.
For those customers using 1WorldSync XML, the XML has changed
and customers must upgrade to the MjR3-compliant XML. The latest
schemas can be found on the 1WorldSync SOLUTIONCenter.
This release is identified as a non-backwards compatible
release.
The changes to attributes and valid values are non-backwards
compatible. Action is required by trading partners using attributes
that have changed.

flex it to suit their industry and will help improve you product data
management.
Once deployed in May 2016, you’ll experience many new
benefits, including the ability to: Provide richer product information. Supports additional attributes to enrich
product data sharing, like ingredient and allergen information, to enhance the
consumer purchasing experience.
Adapt to regulatory requirements. Easier, rapid updates to the standards
simplifies responding to future regulations.
