HOWTOCONNECTLECTRICITY
Donot, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. For
personal safety, this appliance must be properly grounded.
The power cord of this appliance is equipped
with a 3-prong (gromMing) plug which mates
with a standard 3-prong (grounding) wall outlet to
minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard
fi'om this appliance.
Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a
qualNed electridan to make sure the outlet is
properly gmtmded.
Where a standard 2-prong wall outlet is
encotmtered, it is yore" personal responsibilit)' and
obligation to have it replaced with a propedy
grotmded 3-prong wall outlet.
The refligerator should al_z_ys be plugged into its
own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage
rating that matches the rating plate.
This provides the best pe_l'imnance and also
prevents overloading house Mfing circuits which
could cause a fire hazard fl'om overheated wires.
Never unplug yore" refrigerator
by
pulling on the
power cord.
Mways

power cord.
USEOFADAPTERLUGS
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend against the
use of an adapter plug.
However; if you must use an adapte_; where local
codes pemfit, a
temporary connection
may be made
to a properly grotmded 2-prong wall outlet by use
of a UI

Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators. Modem refrigerators
have more features and use newer technology.
Do you hear what I hear? These sounds are normal.
HUMMM...

The new high efficiency compressor may mn faster
and longer than w)ur old refl'igerator and you may
hear a high-i_itched hum or pulsating sound while
it is operating.
_m may hear a whooshing sound when the (loo_s close.
This is due to pressure equalizing within the reti'igerato_:
CLICKS, POPS,
CRACKS and CHIRPS
You
may hear cracking or i)oi)ping sounds when the
refrigerator is first i)lugged in. This hal)pens as the
ref'rigerator
cools
to the correct tel l/ l)ei '_lt tl i'e.
The compressor may cause a clicking or chiq_ing
sound when attempting to restart (this could take
up to 5 minutes).
Expansion and contraction of cooling coils dm'ing
and after defl'ost can cause a cracking or i)oi)ping
SOtlnd.
On models with an icemake_; after an icemaking
cycle, you may hear the ice cubes dropping into
the ice bucket.
WHIR./
You may hear the rims spinning at high speeds.
This hai_pens when the refrigerator is first plugged
in, when the doors are opened frequently or when
a large ainount of fl_od is added to the refl'igerator
or freezer compartments. The rims are helping to
maintain the correct temperatures.
WATERSOUNDS

A water dripping noise may occm" dm'ing the defl'ost
