As God began creating the world of beauty, a GREAT DEAL of effort must have gone into South Tyrol. In addition, the landscape, which is surrounded by the fertile valleys of the rivers Etsch, Rienz, Gader and Eisack, including the grand, high Alpine open air theatre of the Dolomites, the proximity to the south and the mild Mediterranean climate, offers an ideal platform for the wishes of demanding cornering demons and down-to-earth pleasure seekers. Particularly in the golden month of October - when the apples in the valleys are picked and the wine and ripe chestnuts are harvested - the deserted mountain roads with sensational views and spectacular sets of bends wait for the tyres of your GEMBALLA to leave their marks. Our guide and South Tyrol specialist Reinhard Loeven has compressed his network built over many years into a unique program that he would also undertake with his best friends.

In addition, you will gain insights into the work of two stars responsible for the Alpine cuisine. Barbara Schlachter-Ebert (Schlossanger Alp, 15 pts, Gault Millau) will prepare an exquisite menu and Egon Heiss (Restaurant “ALPES” in the gourmet hotel Bad Schörgau, 17 pts, Gault Millau and “Up and coming chef of the year 2016”, 1 Michelin star) will take you on a culinary journey around South Tyrol, Italy and the zeitgeist.




ARRIVALS AT THE PASS - OFF SEASON… ... are exhilarating. Breath-taking nature and deserted tranquility accompanied by the quiet spattering of the engines. Almost meditative – the moment of inner peace after the concentrated search for the perfect drive through bends. And with it, an Alpine backdrop that is fascinating in any kind of weather. During scattered days in mid October, the mountains can already be covered in snow - generally viewed as “decorative material” away from the mountain routes. See image.




THE MEETING POINT CLOSE TO PFRONTEN The beautifully secluded Schloßanger Alp mountain hotel is 1130 m high “on the Alpine pastures”. THE place to feel good in Allgäu. A family-run business in fantastic tranquility. She (BarbaraSchlachter Ebert) is in the kitchen and he (Bernd Ebert) is in service. Here, it is about everyone knowing everyone. You will see!The spacious hotel resort in the comfortable Allgäu country house style offers 24 individual and cosily furnished double rooms as well as six dignified suites. Wellness up here in the “Berg Quell” area with a pool, sauna and beauty spa turns into a complete way of life. In the kitchen, Barbara Schlachter-Ebert cooks up her wonderful fresh dishes using regional organic products with great attention to detail.




OUR BASECAMP IM SOUTH TYROL South Tyrolean chic without pretentiousness. Living here is a dream. After an adventurous tunnel ride from Bolzano through the initially rocky and wild Sarntal, Hotel Bad Schörgau emerges after approximately 15 minutes on the left hand side at edge of the forest. Rooms and suites that smell of Swiss stone pine, a cosy bistro, bar, top-quality restaurant (managed by South Tyrol’s Shooting Star Egon Heiss since start of June 2010), the bathhouse with water from its own source: and the list of special features is far from complete. Special mention also goes to patron Gregor Wenter, who enjoys the highest levels of popularity in Italy as a TV chef. Since the return of brother-in-law Egon Heiss, Gregor has managed the service and is responsible for the wine. He was rightly awarded with the “Südtiroler Weinkulturpreis 2010 [South Tyrolean Wine Culture Prize]” in the hotel category at the gourmet hotel Bad Schörgau.

CUISINE To quote Reinhard Loeven: The culinary star on this trip is surely Egon Heiss at the gourmet hotel Bad Schörgau. Three of the four evening meals will come from his kitchen. When I got to know Egon Heiss on the occasion of an incentive for a very famous car manufacturer, Mr Heiss was still cooking at Hotel Laurin in Bolzano. This was in 2009 and it was so unforgettably remarkable that my next event in South Tyrol also had to include him. However, he had changed and so, I followed him and ended up in Sarntal. I can now say: how fortunate! This is because there is no other hotel/kitchen combination in my knowledge - and it is now extensive – that impresses me even more. The number of my event participants that later returned to Bad Schörgau is remarkably high.
