The Digital ScheduleStructured and Flexible for Students

The schedule for digital learning was designed to provide the structure of a normal school day and the flexibility of both live and offline learning. Teachers will be live each day during class time. However, the use of an A/B schedule allows students to prepare for scheduled, live teaching sessions and anticipate independent practice/support sessions. Monday and Wednesday are designated as “A” days, and live teacher-led instruction will occur during 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th periods. Tuesday and Thursday are designated as “B” days, and live instruction will take place during 2nd, 4th and 6th periods. Teachers have the flexibility during each class period to provide live teaching, support and independent tasks to be completed outside of the class period. If a teacher assigns a student to a small group work session, the student is expected to attend. All students will see a Homeroom listed on their schedule. In order to maintain safety guidelines once we return to face to face instruction, students will attend lunch either A or B based on their assigned homeroom. This homeroom time will also be used to distribute information, share school news and conduct advisement lessons.

InstructionSynchronous and Asynchronous Learning

Students benefit the most from live, interactive learning opportunities with their teachers (synchronous learning). Throughout digital learning, synchronous lessons will be conducted through Zoom or Google Meet, and students are expected to log into their classes, be present during live instruction and complete learning activities. During these live sessions, teachers will be available to answer questions and provide help. Learning tasks may also be designed such that they can be completed independently outside class (asynchronous learning). Students may receive help from teachers on asynchronous tasks during the assigned class period or via communication with teachers by email or during their office hours.

AssessmentMeasuring student learning

Assessments allow to teachers to measure what students have learned, determine if they mastered the content and design instruction and support as needed. Student completion of assigned tasks and assessments is key to effectively preparing future learning experiences for them. Teachers are learning new ways to digitally assess what students know and can do. Students are expected to complete tasks following teacher guidelines for use of resources. The Mill Creek Honor Code will apply to all assignments and assessments.Remember, Hawks S.O.A.R. to Excellence! Strive to Overachieve through Accountability and Respect.
