  • Choosing the Right Level of Competition for your dancers…

    ROOKIE LEVEL

Rookie Team, Duo/Duet, or Soloist should be newer to the competition scene. This level is to give teams experience on the competition stage and help them to learn and grow as dancers. The difficulty and complexity of steps performed can be simpler but is not limited. Directors should place dancers in Rookie category based on a combination of skill level & experience.

    CHALLENGE LEVEL

A Challenge Team, Duo/Duet, or Soloist should be more experienced in competition than a Rookie team. Challenge dancers should be more divers in the type of footwork performed and should have past experience winning at other competitions. Challenge dancers should be seasoned and polished; therefore directors should place dancers in the Challenge level based on winning previous competitions and their ability to execute difficult choreography.

    Our Scoring System…

    Rookie Level Challenge Level

    Diamond (265-300) Platinum (275-300)

    Sapphire (250-264) Gold (260-274)

    Ruby (235-249) Silver (245-259)

    Emerald (0-234) Bronze (0-244)

Typically we use five judges and drop the high and low score and add together the middle three to determine the score for each team, duo, or choreographed solo. In the event three judges are used, all three scores will be added together to determine the range.

    Qualifying for Nationals…

Any team, duo or solo that earns Platinum or Gold (Challenge) or Diamond or Sapphire (Rookie) automatically qualifies for Nationals. Any solo or duo/duet that earns first, second, or third place also qualifies for Nationals. Any team that wins a category qualifies for Nationals and any Team of the Day also qualifies for Nationals. Any questions about qualifying should be addressed to Cadence Events Director, Jill Kirby at [email protected]. Also check the Cadence website for a complete list of qualifiers…www.clogcadence.com.
