New benchmark studies (1)New CLIC benchmark studies are starting. One of the main aims: A comprehensive paper on CLIC Higgs studies at 350 GeV, 500 GeV, 1.4 TeV, 3 TeV => to be ready for ECFA LC meeting at DESY

New cost-effective ECAL studiesCost-effective ECAL studySimulation + hardware study… thinking of:• Reducing number of ECAL layers• Understand the need for granularity in 1st / 2nd part of ECAL• Study scintillator-tile option (for 2nd part of) ECAL… or whatever the simulation will teach us

Conveners:• John Marshall (Cambridge, simulation part)• Christian Joram (CERN, hardware part)

Publications related to our CLIC study

While waiting for an Institute Board we need to give guidance on publications…

Proposal (please comment):

Recommendation for publications based on common work and common tools related to the CLIC physics and detector study: In case the work has been carried out by a limited number of authors, they can publish their work independently. It is expected that the work is normally already described in an LCD note. Prior to submission for publication, the paper shall be sent to Dieter and Frank, who make it available for review to the members of the CLIC detector and physics study for a short lapse of time (typically 1 week). In most cases it is expected that the CLIC physics and detector study is mentioned or acknowledged in the paper.

End of the W-HCAL beam testsThe CERN PS and SPS test beam campaigns with the tungsten HCAL, scintillator (2010-2011) and RPC (2012) are finished.

This has been a BIG success. Many thanks to all who contributed.Lots and lots of data to be analysed.
