The u.s. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has documented the releases or threatened releases of hazardous substances, pollutantsand contaminants at the above-referenced site, and is consideringspending public funds to further investigate and control these releases. This action will be taken by EPA pursuant to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980, 42 u.s.c. Section 9601 et seq. (CERCLA), unless EPA determines that such action will be acne properly by a responsible party.

Responsible parties under CERCLA include the current and past owners or operators, and persons who generated the substances or were involved in transport, treatment, or disposal of them at the site. Under CERCLA, and other laws, responsible parties may be liable for money expended by the government to take necessary .. corrective action at the site, including investigation, planning, -·. cleanup of the site, and enforcement.

5. Conduct a feasibility study to evalilaate possible remedial alternatives for containment, re~l or treatment of the soil and/or groundwater if it is fiGund to be contaminated.

6. Design and implement the feasible ~medial alternatives.

EPA presently intends to initiate the removal and disposal of the materials contained in the storage tanks no later than May 16, 1983. In addition, EPA intends to ent~ a Cooperative Agreement
