Meeting Digest 4-17-19The meeting was called to order by LionPresident George Salet after which Lion LyleWorkman took over to conduct the Youth &Community Raffle drawing. The pledge andinvocation were skipped, as were theintroductions. 7 Lions were present.

District 4-C4 ConventionThe District 4-C4 Convention is quicklyapproaching. The “Carnival” will be held May2-5 at the Red Lion Inn in Redding. LionSharon Eberhardt will be going - who else?

Student Speaker ContestOur contestant in the Student SpeakerContest, Michael Gray from ArchbishopRiordan High School, has won the Districtcontest and will be advancing to the Area 2contest. The contest will take place onSaturday, May 11th at 2 p.m. at Tierra LindaMiddle School in San Carlos. It would begreat if some members can show up andshow our support. Lion Joe Farrah reportsthat Jeanette Pavini was our last contestantto go to upper levels many years ago.

Guest SpeakerLion Sharon Eberhardt has invited theDirector of the Excelsior Boys and Girls Clubto come to the May 15th meeting and tell usabout their Summer Camp and otherprograms we might be interested insupporting. They do scholarships for kidswho can't afford the fees to go.

Youth & Community Raffle

Drawing: Lion Lyle Workman conducted theYouth & Community Raffle drawing by havingmembers present draw winning tickets inturn. Present were Lions Eberhardt, Donnelly,Fenech, Workman, Graziano, Farrah, andSalet. It went very quickly with no winnerspresent. A complete list of winners is availableon our website. The things left to do: countthe money and spend it.

EtceteraThe meeting turned into one of the infrequenttalking sessions where everyone talked aboutwhat interested them. Topics were DNAtesting kits and their results; what we eattraditionally, as families (each member toldtheir family’s story in turn); and other fraternaland service clubs and where clubs will be inthe future.

Attendance Raffle & Mystery LionAttendance Raffle was not held. The MysteryLion was a no show, again.

LAST WEEK'S MEETINGLast week's Father-Son Night turned out verywell. There were 32 Lions in attendance and37 children and 6 guests. Mr. Metcalf, sportsannouncer from Channel 11, showed movieson drag racing. Frank Silva demonstrated afire-proof suit which is worn by race drivers.

VISITATIONMonday, Feb. 14th, there will be a LadiesNight bus trip to the San Lorenzo Valley LionsClub in Felton. If you are planning to attendplease contact Lion Al Kleinbach forreservations. Only 38 seats are available onthe bus. Price of the evening will beannounced next week.

YOUTH GUIDANCEJanuary 30th is the next party at the YouthGuidance Center. Lion Al Gentile will be thechairman. His committee consists of Lions:

Joe Armanini, Andy Baxter and Art Blum.Please arrange for someone to go in yourplace if you cannot attend yourself.
