Miles Kane : Come Closer

The song focuses on the lead singer wanting this girl to stop playing around with other men and come closer to him, but has to find out what he has to do to make this happen.

In the song itself the lead singer gives that intense look to the girl as if to say he’s interested while he passes her, when walking through the corridor. However it seems she is mixed up in this other business with the other men in the video. Like there's some sort of deal going on and involves her as she is focused on quite a bit in the video.

The Song Itself:

As we can then see the lyrics start off with the lead singer stating, what does he have to do to get her where he wants her. Which is what we know is when meaning by his side.

Then going on to say “ill guess we’ll see what might be”, therefore meaning she’ll eventually come around.

The chorus is then a repetition of the title where he says “come closer”, which then is being directed at the girl.

This then consists of three chorus’s and 2 verses.

The Indie Rock Genre can then be seen in the Artist Miles Kane when seeing the use of electric guitar, bass and drums being used in the song.

The song also shows to be very up tempo as for example in the way the Lead singer is singing it as he belts the lyrics out and is constantly moving around to show his presence when playing.

Structure

In the video we can see the Lead singer singing with the rest of the band playing there instruments and there is a few time when the lyrics are in sync with him singing.

There can be seen dancing in the video as we see the girl in the video tempting him to go over there.

The Actual Performance of the Song

It also seems to show them playing a live show with no audience but in fact the girl dancing seems to be dancing as they play so could be an audience member after all.

This video then seems to have some sort of narrative that focuses on this temptation between the lead singer and women in the video.

The Video Itself: The lead singer shows to be wearing casual

clothes as we see him in a casual suit with the top button undone. It also shows in the video very dark lighting as they are in some sort of club/ venue therefore again showing us this theme of indie rock.

There's also a scene which shows Miles the artist as the main person as a light shines behind him.

There also shows to be a lot of fast paced cuts in the video when going from the Lead singer to then Focusing on the girl to then going back to this business deal also going on.

There also shows to be a lot of close ups as the Lead singer sings the chorus and verse showing this big focus on him.

The sound is the video is also seen to be non- diegetic as the only sound we can hear coming from the video is the music.

There is also a zooming out shot of the main lead singer in the video where then again showing this fixed view on him.

Also seeing close ups of the instruments such as the guitar to show this genre yet again of Indie Rock.
