Message from the Principal…….

Marist Catholic School provides a Catholic environment in which students receive quality learning opportunities, with Jesus Christ as our guide.

Marist Catholic School’s Vision for Year 6 students leaving the school is that they: ● Have a strong relationship with God ● Are confident, resilient, life-long learners ● Are proud of their own identity and strive for excellence

We make this important statement in our school Charter and it is a good idea to remind ourselves periodically about what it is that drives our decision-making at Marist Catholic School.

At this time of the year we look at every aspect of the school – our Catholic special character, curriculum, organisation, resources and culture – and use this review to plan for 2020 and beyond. This process is well underway and we thank those of you who have so willingly participated in surveys and shared your thoughts to help us gather information.

God Bless Sarah Gleeson

Year 5 & 6 Boys learning at St Paul’s College:  On Thursday14th of November, our year 5 and 6 boys spent the morning at St Paul's for some exciting lessons of Digital Technology. The students got to experience the world of Digital Art and 3D Design and Printing. During the Digital Art session, boys were taught some essential Photoshopping skills. At 3D Design and Printing class, students were taught how to sketch their 3D designs into a computer app and how to print them using a 3D printer. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience and got to learn new skills.

While the boys were off at St Paul’s the girls stayed back with Mrs Taljaard and learnt how to create animated slide shows using the stop frame process. The final products were amazing!

St Peter’s Band: A few weeks ago the St Peter’s Year 7/8 orchestra performed for us. With around 100 St Peter’s boys

playing a large range of instruments, it was both entertaining and inspiring. It was also wonderful to see

a few of our ex-pupils performing too.

PTA:

Thank you to all the families who supported the PTA’s latest fundraiser. We are proud to say that we raised $2,015 through the sale of our Calendar art.

Such a proud feeling for all the Marist parents and teachers in the audience at the Bruce Mason Centre last Wednesday watching our amazing choir perform with around 600 students from around Auckland in the Kids for Kids Concert.
