Mormon RocksMormon rocks were formed

by a river system hundreds

of years age. In the year

1857 they were formed by

a big earthquake.

Granular structure

The granular structure of the rocks are make of sandstone.The rocks also show the years in which the rain and weather changed.

Cinder Hill and Lava Flow

Cinder cones are

generally made of

pieces from the

volcano that build

up and make a hill.

Petroglyph- are from native Americans that have lived near the river.

House Rings- house rings used as a nest for families. Clumped together in communities.

Fossil Falls

Fossil Falls- are made from melting glaciers from nearby. They flowed down from the mountains and into the valley.

These are obsidian flakes these litter the ground from the natives and the river that was once here.

Metate Holes formed by rocks in the river that got stuck and formed a smooth hole.

Mt Whitney- elevation is 14,505 feet it is the highest summit in the united states.

Diaz lake was formed in 1872 by an earthquake that dropped the land and water sprung open to release water into the hole.

The Lone Pine earthquake caused a lot of buildings and houses crumble.

Keoughs Hot Springs

These hotsprings are

hot due to the water

going deep into the

earth, were volcanos

are up to the surfaces.

Water is so hot that it

is still heated once it

reaches the surface.
