Geography Hunt Primary

Clue #1 We are headed to the southwest to one of the

seven natural wonders of the world.

Clue #2 I am located in a SW state that holds title to

another natural wonder, the Grand Canyon.

Clue #3 The impact of my meteor occurred about

50,000 years ago. The impact happened during the

Pleistocene age when the climate on Colorado Plateau

was cooler and damper. The area was grassland dotted

with woodlands inhabited wooly mammoths, giant ground

sloths, and camels.

Clue #4 Currently, I am about 1.5 kilometers in

diameter (slightly less than a mile), and some 570 feet

deep. A 30 meter high rim of rock surrounds me making

me look like an empty cereal bowl on the flat plains.

Clue #5 Here is a picture of me. I am named after a

man who was determined to prove I was what is termed

an impact crater.

Clue #1 My landlocked country in located in the

southeastern hemisphere.

Clue #2 70% of my country consists of desert.

Clue #3 My country is a regional leader in economic

freedom. I was one of the most impoverished

countries in Africa when I became independent

from Britain in 1966. Today I have a stable political

system and an economy that is one of the most

successful in Africa. I am world-renowned for my

diamond industry.

Clue #4 The Kalahari Desert marches across my

land

Clue #5 The coordinates for my Makgadikgadi Pan,

a large salt pan, lies at approximately

22˚S, 24˚ E.
