2007 – iPhone, Android, Open Handset Alliance

Apple breaks the market with the all-in-one: phone, internet and mp3 player in a new type of smartphone: beautiful, design, multi-touch...

Hundreds of people camped for over 100 hours outside of the Apple store in New York for its release.

…and then there is …Geopaparazzi!!!

Basically an engineering survey tool

...if necessary, something to just have in your pocket...

...to  easily  map  the  important  professional  targets...

...and  in  general  important  things  in  life...

What to do with the surveyed data? Data are exported: -  point shapefiles for each type of note also complex forms -  point shapefiles with reference to pictures taken and sketches -  all pictures are exported to a media folder -  log lines and points -  profile charts and csv of log data -  project metadata file

How to create base data for your survey

In STAGE there is a tool that takes GIS data (rasters, vectors) and creates mbtiles databases to use with geopaparazzi.

Page 55: Geopaparazzi, state of the art

In QGIS there is a “QTiles” plug-in that takes GIS data and creates mbtiles databases to use with geopaparazzi.

•  Need to add records to metadata table

Geopaparazzi's roadmap 1) at the device side the new rasterlite2 format will be fully supported. This will hive the possibility to handle also merging of multiple raster layers in transparency. It will also open huge possibilities for doing small analyses on site on devices, since not only the image data but also the physical data will be available.

Page 66: Geopaparazzi, state of the art

Geopaparazzi's roadmap 2) On the desktop/server side the new STAGE will be developed to create a strategic app for geopaparazzi. It will be a web application with which the user will be able to look at the surveyed data and import and export projects from and to the device.
