INTERMEDIATE GERMAN I

GET ON THE FAST TRACK WITH GERMAN AT KU! One of the top ten most-spoken languages around the globe, German is the most commonly-spoken language throughout Europe and an official language of the EU. Germany is home to a large number of economic global players and the birthplace of world’s leading innovators and inventors – be it in music, science, philosophy, or art. It’s no wonder that Berlin is a hub for innovative start-ups or that Germany’s “.de” is the most popular top-level internet domain out there. No matter what your future career, German will help take you there! Continue your journey with GERM 201, a course for students with the equivalent of first two semesters’ knowledge of German. You must have completed GERM 108 or place into the course by the KU German Language Placement Exam (http://sllc.ku.edu/placement-proficiency). In this course you’ll:

• Explore the history and diverse cultural phenomena of German-speaking Europe, from Berlin and Bavaria to Weimar and Vienna

• Discover their varied products and practices such as Haribo gummi bears, the music of Mozart and Bach, and festivals like Oktoberfest

• Learn what it’s like to study, work, and vacation abroad • Improve your writing and conversation skills • Satisfy Goal 4 Outcome 2 (AE42), U Undesignated elective (U)
