• A sentence that gives a command or makes a request.

• A sentence that asks a question.• The sentence is followed by a

question mark.

Exclamatory Sentence

• A sentence that expresses strong feeling.

• The sentence is followed by an exclamation point.

• Examples – What a great time we had!– I can’t wait for baseball season to

start!

• Helpful Hint– A declarative, an imperative, or an

interrogative sentence may be spoken in such a way that it is exclamatory.

– In this case it should be followed by an exclamation point.
