OLV Confirmation Candidates!
If I missed anyone’s name, I am truly
sorry! Events like these take the work
of many individuals and, from the
bottom of my heart, I offer sincerest
thanks and deepest appreciation.
I also want to take this opportunity to
express my sentiments of deepest
gratitude and appreciation to all of
our devoted parishioners and
generous donors and benefactors for
all that you do for our Basilica Parish
throughout the year. My heart is truly
overflowing with gratitude for the
gifts of your time, talent and treasure.
Over the next five years (2021-2026)
that it took to build the Basilica (1921-
1926) we will have many events to
come together and celebrate the
various milestones here at Our Lady
of Victory National Shrine & Basilica.
Finally, as I mentioned at the end of
my homily last Sunday, as we gather
here in Father Baker’s “City of
Charity” and as we honor Our Lady of
Victory, may we honor Father Baker,
the human cornerstone of our
magnificent Basilica and truly a
pioneer of social justice. . . . May we all
recommit ourselves to do as Father
Baker did . . . inflame our hearts and
lives with compassion for the poor,
justice for the oppressed, hope for
the troubled, and courage to those in
doubt.
This is our clarion call as we go
forward during these next five years
and beyond to ensure that what has
been entrusted to us, Our Lady of
Victory National Shrine & Basilica and
all the Human Services we provide,
continues to be a beacon of hope for
all and the triumph of victory to all
who come to us in their time of need.
May Father Baker intercede for us
and Our Lady of Victory protect us!
God bless you and your loved ones!
GRATEFULLY,
FATHER DAVID

PRAYER
Loving God,
we thank you for
the faith, vision and
heroic ministry of
Venerable Nelson
Baker, who entrusted
his full confidence
to the powerful
intercession of
Our Lady of Victory.
As we celebrate
the Centennial
of our Basilica,
may it continue to
be a place of healing
prayer, inspiration
for the conversion
of hearts, and
encouragement
for charitable service
to those in need.
We ask this in the
name of Jesus,
who lives and reigns
forever and ever.
Amen.
