The base DIC has three buttons:Trip/Odometer, Set/Reset andDisplay/Personal Programming. Thefive-button Trip Computer, if equipped,adds a Gauges button to the far left anda Fuel button to the far right.

Pressing the Gauges button on theoptional Trip Computer accesses thesemodes:• Oil Life Remaining in %• Transmission Fluid Temperature• Battery Voltage• Engine Hours• Engine Boost (supercharged engine

only)• Maximum G Force (GXP StabiliTrak

Dual Stage Frontal Air Bags

Dual stage frontal air bags for the driverand right front passenger adjust theamount of restraint in relation to theseverity of an impact. For moderateimpacts, the air bags deploy at a levelless than full deployment. For moresevere frontal impacts, full deploymentoccurs. See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

The side impact air bags are located inthe roof above the side windows. Theyare designed to inflate in moderate tosevere side crashes and only on theside of the vehicle that is struck. See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Climate Controls

The climate control system regulates theheating, cooling and ventilation of yourvehicle. Film valve technology allows thisunit to blend the temperature and airflowmore precisely.

Airflow ModesThe climate control system includes fiveprimary modes:

(Vent): Directs air to the instrumentpanel outlets.

(Bi-Level): Directs half of the air tothe instrument panel outlets and theremaining air to the floor outlets.

(Floor): Directs most of the air to thefloor outlets with some air directed to theside window outlets and windshield.

(Defog): Directs air to the windshield,side window outlets and floor outlets.Recirculation will not function in thismode.

Refer to your Owner Manual for a listing of driver warning messages and infotainment messages. The driverwarning messages provide critical infotainment to prevent damage to your vehicle. It is important to readyour Owner Manual and become familiar with the information displayedand what action to take to ensure safety and to prevent damage.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Located inside the vehicle’s heating andair conditioning housing, the cabin air filter reduces dust, pollen, smoke andother contaminants within the vehiclecabin. A reduction in the amount of airflow coming from the heating and airconditioning outlets could indicate a dirtycabin air filter.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Dual Automatic Climate Control (if equipped)

AUTO (Automatic Operation)• Turn both the fan and mode knobs

to the AUTO position for automatic control of the inside temperature, air delivery mode and fan speed.

• Press the up arrow to raise the tem-perature and press the down arrow to lower the temperature.

• Press the PASS button to turn the passenger climate control system on or off.

Do not cover the solar sensor located inthe center of the instrument panel, nearthe windshield. The automatic climatecontrol system uses information from the sensor to maintain the selected temperature.Manual OperationTemperature: Press the driver or pas-senger up arrow to raise the tempera-ture and press the driver or passengerdown arrow to lower the temperature. Fan: Turn the fan knob to increase ordecrease fan speed.

(Off): Turn the fan knob to the Offposition to turn the system off. Only theheated seats and the rear defogger willfunction when the fan knob is off.

(Air Conditioning): Press this but-ton to turn on the air conditioning sys-tem. If the air conditioning is turned offby pushing the button, the Fan andAuto mode light may remain illuminated;however, the air conditioning will not be activated. To turn the air conditioningback on, push the button again orrotate the mode control knob clockwiseone detent and then counterclockwiseone detent.

(Recirculation) (maximum cool-ing): Press this button to recirculateinside air throughout the vehicle. Thismode maximizes cooling by keepingoutside air from entering the vehicle.

(Rear Window Defogger): Pressthis button to activate the rear windowdefogger. The defogger will shut offautomatically after about 20 minutes.Airflow ModesTurn the airflow control knob to one ofthe following five modes to change thedirection of the airflow:

(Vent): This mode directs air to theinstrument panel outlets.

(Bi-Level): This mode directs air tothe instrument panel outlets and flooroutlets.

(Floor): This mode directs most ofthe air to the floor outlets and some air to the side window outlets and windshield.

(Defog): This mode directs air tothe windshield, side window outlets andfloor outlets. Recirculation will not func-tion in this mode.

(Defrost): Directs most of the airto the windshield and the side outlets with some air directed to the floor outlets. Recirculation will not function in this mode.

The mode functions can be “blended” by pointing the center knob to one of thewhite dots shown between the main modes.The center air outlet, next to the DIC or TripComputer, is the largest outlet and will flowmore air than the other outlets.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Power Seat

The power seat adjustment control islocated on the outboard side of thedriver’s seat. Seat Adjustments:• Slide the control toward the front or

rear to move the seat forward or rearward.

• Slide the control up or down to raise orlower the seat cushion.

• Move the front part of the control up ordown to raise or lower the front sectionof the seat.

• Move the rear part of the control up ordown to raise or lower the rear portionof the seat.

Power LumbarAdjustment (if equipped)The power lum-bar control letsyou adjust theamount of sup-port in the lowerseatback. The control is located on theoutboard side of the seat cushion.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Loading the Six-Disc CD Changer (if equipped)This compact disc player will hold up to six discs. To insert one disc, do thefollowing:1. Turn the ignition on.2. Press and release the LOAD side

of the LOAD CD button.3. Wait for the light, located to the

right of the slot, to turn green.4. Load a disc. Insert the disc partway

into the slot, label side up. The player will pull the disc in.

To insert multiple discs, do the following:1. Turn the ignition on.2. Press and hold the LOAD side of

the LOAD CD button for two seconds. You will hear a beep; and then the light, located to the right of the slot, will begin to flash.

3. Once the light stops flashing and turns green, load a disc. Insert the disc partway into the slot, label sideup. The player will pull the disc in.

4. Once the disc is loaded, the light will begin flashing again. When the light stops flashing and turns green, you can load another disc. Do not try to load more than six discs.

Note: CDs with any affixed labels mayjam in the CD player. Label a CD usinga permanent marker. If more than oneCD is inserted into the slot at one time,or if scratched or damaged CDs areplayed, the CD player could be dam-aged. When using the CD player, useonly CDs in good condition withoutlabels; load one CD at a time; and keepthe CD player and the loading slot freeof foreign materials, liquids or debris.

MP3 Capability (if equipped)The AM/FM Stereo with CD has MP3playing capability. A CD-R or CD-RWcontaining MP3 audio tracks will playautomatically when inserted into the CDplayer. An MP3 symbol will be displayed.

Door Chime Volume AdjustmentYou can adjust the volume level of thedoor chime. With the ignition on, and theradio off, press and hold the #6 buttonon the radio. The radio will display eithera LOUD or NORMAL readout. Hold thebutton until the setting changes. Thebutton must be released and pressedagain each time you want to change thevolume.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

XM Satellite Radio (if equipped)

XM Satellite Radio offers more than 160channels of digital-quality sound —coast to coast — including music, news,sports, talk and children’s programming.XM displays song title, artist and enter-tainment genre.On equipped radios, two additional lis-tening bands are available: XM1 andXM2. To access these bands, press theBAND button until XM1 or XM2 appearson the display.XM Satellite Radio service is basedin the 48 contiguous United Statesand Canada. An activation fee andservice subscription are required.For more information, visit XM onlineat www.XMradio.com or call 1-800-852-XMXM (9696).

Touch Screen NavigationEntertainment System (if equipped)

Your vehicle’s Navigation EntertainmentSystem provides you with detailed mapsof all major highways and roadsthroughout the United States. After youenter a destination, the system providesturn-by-turn instructions for reachingyour destination. In addition, the systemcan help you locate banks, airports,restaurants, post offices, ATMs andmore.See your Navigation EntertainmentSystem Quick Reference Guide foroperating instructions for the Navigationand Radio/CD Systems.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

CONVENIENCE

This feature allows you to start theengine from outside the vehicle by usingthe Remote Keyless Entry transmitter.(Normal transmitter range is withinapproximately 200 feet of the vehicle.)You can also set the climate control sys-tem to heat or cool the vehicle interiorbefore getting in. The engine will run forabout 10 minutes before turning itselfoff, but can be extended 10 minutesby performing another remote startsequence before the first 10 minutesexpires, or after the engine has shut off.No additional remote starts are alloweduntil the vehicle has been started withthe ignition key.

Starting the Vehicle1. Aim the transmitter at the vehicle.2. Press and release the Lock button on

the transmitter.3. Immediately press and hold the

remote start button for at least two seconds or until the turn signal lights flash, indicating the engine has started.

4. When the vehicle starts, the parkinglamps will light and stay on while the engine is running.

5. Repeat these steps for a 10-minute time extension, which begins when the second activation is made.

Turning Off the Engine After aRemote StartTo turn off the engine after a remotestart, but before driving, press and holdthe Remote Start button until the parkinglamps turn off, OR press and release theHazard Warning Flashers button insidethe vehicle. Press the button again toturn off the flashers.Driving the VehicleTo drive the vehicle after a remote start,insert the ignition key into the ignitioncylinder and turn it to the Run position.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Daytime Running Lamps make it easierfor others to see the front of your vehicleduring the day by lighting the amberlamps located in the lower front fascia.(Always turn on the regular headlampsystem when it is needed.)You can turn off the DRL by rotating the exterior lamps control on the multifunction switch to the full-downposition. Rotate the switch down againfor the DRL to come back on.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)

The exteriorlamps controlcan be turned tothe followingpositions byrotating the outerband.

(Off): Rotatethe band to thisposition to turn offall lamps.AUTO (Automatic): Rotate the band tothis position to automatically turn theexterior lamps on and off, depending onambient light conditions outside thevehicle.

(Parking Lamps): Rotate the bandto this position to turn on parking lamps,side-marker lamps, taillamps, licenseplate lamps and instrument panel lamps.

(Headlamps): Rotate the band tothis position to turn on the headlamps,together with the previously listedlamps.

(Fog Lamps) (if equipped): Turn theinner band up to turn on the fog lamps.This symbol will also illuminate on theinstrument panel cluster. Turn the bandup again to turn off the fog lamps.

Note: The fog lamps will not light whenthe headlamp high beams are on. Thefog lamps will always turn off when theignition is turned off. If fog lamp illumi-nation is desired, they must be turnedon each time the ignition is turned on.

Use the Cruise Control for steady drivingon relatively straight, uncrowded roads.The controls are located on the end ofthe multifunction lever.The Cruise Control functions include:

(Off): Slide the control to this position to turn off the system.

(On): Slide the control to this positionto turn on the system.+ (Resume/Accelerate): Slide the con-trol to this position to resume a previ-ously set speed or to accelerate whenCruise Control is already active.– (Set/Decrease): Press the button atthe end of the multifunction lever to setthe speed or decrease vehicle speedwhen Cruise Control is already active.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Cruise Control

The lever on the right side of the steer-ing column operates the windshieldwipers. Set the controls to the following desiredposition:

(Off): Move the lever down to turn the wipers off.

(Delay): Set lever to this positionfor a delay between wipes; turn thedelay adjustment band to set the delaylength.

(Delay Adjustment): Rotate theband to set the length of the delay. The windshield wiper lever must be in thedelay position for this feature to work.

(Low Speed): Place the lever inthis position for slow, steady wiping.

(High Speed): Place the lever inthis position for quick wiping cycles.

Windshield Wipers & Washer

Note: Approximately 20 seconds afterthe windshield wipers begin to operate,the exterior and instrument panel lightswill come on and the DIC display willdim. Approximately 10 seconds after the wipers are turned off, the exteriorand instrument panel lights go off andthe DIC display will brighten. At thispoint, always make sure that you haveappropriate lighting for the current driving conditions.

The ignition must be in the Run positionfor HUD to be activated. Whenever HUDis activated, a Grand Prix icon (GP) willbe displayed and will remain on for any-where from four seconds to two minutesdepending on the ambient temperatureof the system. When the icon disap-pears, the HUD will display the formatscreen activated during the last Runignition cycle.The HUD displays vital information“through” the windshield, eliminating theneed for the driver to look away from theroad. The information will appear to be avirtual image located at the front of thevehicle. HUD information can be displayed inEnglish or Metric units and in English,French or Spanish language. Yourchoice can be selected through the vehi-cle’s Driver Information Center. Refer toyour Owner Manual for the procedure.The HUD control switch is located in thecenter console next to the gear shifter.

Head-Up Display (HUD) CenterConsole Controls Intensity

When the circle in the outer ring is posi-tioned at the upper arrow, the HUD willbe turned off. Rotate the ring to the rightto turn the HUD on and increase theintensity of the display to full brightness.The HUD system will automaticallybrighten or dim as the ambient lightincreases or decreases.

PositionPress the up or down arrow to move thedisplay within a limited range to thedesired viewing position.

FormatsPress the center “page” button to cyclethrough the three available HUDformats.

Note: Certain HUD information that isalways active will shrink or move whenother information is activated. This information may also include an ISOsymbol (registered with the InternationalOrganization for Standardization) repre-senting the active function or feature.

Note: If you wear polarized sunglasseswhen viewing the HUD, the image maynot be visible.

The windshield washer ( ) button is located on the end of the windshieldwiper lever. Press the button to washthe windshield. If your vehicle is low onwasher fluid, the Check Washer Fluidmessage will appear on the DriverInformation Center (DIC) display.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

13. Traction Control Off with corre-sponding ISO symbol — four seconds when system is turned off.

Format TwoWith the exception of the compass andoutside temperature information, FormatTwo will display the same information,and will function the same, as FormatOne.Format ThreeThis format is available only when theinstrument panel lighting is on. Whenentering Format Three, Stealth ModeON will appear for about four seconds.HUD will command the cluster to turn offthe gauge illumination. Remote Trunk Release

Accessory Power Outlets

Press the power door lock button oneither front door to the “unlock” positionfor three seconds to unlatch the trunkfrom inside the vehicle. The vehiclemust be in Park to release the trunk.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Two 12-volt accessory outlets areincluded for convenient use of electricalaccessories such as cell phones and CDplayers. One outlet is located on thecenter console to the left of the cuphold-ers, and the other is located inside theconsole. A cigarette lighter element is availablefor your vehicle. Contact your dealer-ship’s service department if you wish tohave one installed.

Note: Adding some electrical equipmentto your vehicle can damage it or preventother features from working properly.This would not be covered by your warranty. Check with your dealer before adding electrical equipment, and never use anything that exceedsthe amperage rating.

With the front passenger seat folded flatand used in combination with the utilityoffered by the 60/40 split-folding rearseat and trunk, the Grand Prix canaccommodate narrow cargo up to ninefeet long.

Fold-Flat Front Passenger Seat(if equipped)

Before you fold the seatback, ensurethat the seatback is in the third reclinedetent position.

To fold the seatback forward, pull up the lever in the middle of the seatbackand push the seat forward until it liesflat. To restore the seat to its uprightposition, pull up on the lever in the middle of the seatback, lift the seatbackup and ensure that it locks into place.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Split-Folding Rear Seat

You can fold down either side or bothsides of your rear seatback for morecargo space. To lower the rear seatback, pull forwardon the tabs located on the outboard sideof the rear seat cushion. See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

To Set: The parking brake pedal islocated to the left of the brake pedal. To set it, hold down the regular brakepedal with your right foot, and then pushdown on the parking brake pedal withyour left foot.

To Release: Follow the same procedurefor setting the parking brake, but lift yourleft foot first.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Parking Brake Operation

PERFORMANCE & MAINTENANCE The vehicle may be started in secondgear from a stop. A second gear startmay be used for starting on slipperyroads. Commanding the vehicle to startup in third gear will not occur and achime will indicate that the request wasdenied. As vehicle speed increases, it will notautomatically upshift. It will stay in eitherfirst or second gear (if second gear wasselected) until the paddle is pushed toupshift. As the engine speed increasesduring full-throttle acceleration, the“upshift” light/symbol will illuminate onthe instrument cluster and HUD, indicat-ing that the paddle should be pushed toupshift. If the upshift is not commandedby pushing the paddle, the vehiclespeed will be limited in order to protectthe engine. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

TAPshift® Manual PerformanceShifter

Models withTAPshift®

can be man-ually shiftedby followingthe instruc-tions below.Manual (M)Placing the console shifter in the “M”(Manual) position allows you to shiftgears by using the TAPshift® paddleslocated on the steering wheel. Push either paddle once to upshift to the next gear. Pull either paddle once to downshift to the next gear. The command gear will be displayed in theinstrument cluster and also in the Head-Up Display (HUD).While DrivingIf the Manual position is selected whiledriving, the gear that the vehicle is in will be displayed. If the current vehiclespeed is too high when requesting alower gear, the downshift will not occurand a chime will indicate that therequested gear was denied.If the current vehicle speed is too lowwhen requesting a higher gear, theupshift will not occur and a chime willindicate that the requested gear wasdenied. As the vehicle slows to a stop,the transmission will automatically shiftdown to first gear.

Starting From a StopThe vehicle will automatically be in firstgear as it comes to a stop or when initially started up in the Manual mode.

StabiliTrak® Sport, a computer-controlled,vehicle stability enhancement system,assists with vehicle directional control indifficult driving conditions. When thecomputer senses a discrepancybetween the direction in which the vehicle is being steered and its actualpath, the system selectively appliesbrake pressure to any one of the vehicle’s brakes to help steer in thedirection you have intended. For thisapplication, StabiliTrak® Sport is tuned tomaintain both safety and the capacity forperformance driving without premature intervention. See Section 4 of your Owner Manual.

Grand Prix models with the super-charged V6 engine or the V8 enginehave a traction control system that limitswheelspin when it senses that one orboth front wheels are spinning or beginning to lose traction. The systemcontrols wheelspin by applying the frontbrakes and reducing engine power.The system can be disabled by pressingthe TC button located on the console if you become stuck in the sand, mud or snow and rocking the vehicle is necessary. See Section 4 of your Owner Manual.

Enhanced Traction System (ETS)(if equipped)

Grand Prix models equipped with the3800 V6 engine may have an EnhancedTraction System (ETS) that works tolimit wheelspin. When the system senses that one orboth front wheels are spinning or beginning to lose traction, it reducesengine power and may also upshift thetransaxle to further reduce spin.

Hood Release

To open thehood, pull thehood releaselocated near theparking brakepedal and thedriver door.

At the front of the vehicle, release thesecondary hood latch, located near thecenter front of the engine compartment,by moving it to the right. Lift the hood.See Section 5 of your Owner Manual.

The ETS can be disabled by pressing the TC button located on the console if you become stuck in sand, mud or snow and rocking the vehicle is necessary.See Section 4 of your Owner Manual.

Fuel

Regular unleaded fuel is recommendedfor non-supercharged Grand Prix models.Premium unleaded fuel is recommendedfor supercharged V6 models and V8models, but is not required. Note thatusing regular unleaded fuel in a supercharged V6- or V8-equipped model will reduce engine power output,but will not harm the engine.See Section 5 of your Owner Manual.

Securing the Fuel Tank Cap

After fueling, ensure that the fuel tankcap is installed correctly and tightly.Tighten the cap clockwise until at leastthree clicks are heard. If the cap is looseor missing, the Malfunction IndicatorLamp will light steadily. If a loose gascap is the cause, a few driving trips afterretightening should cause the light to goout. If the light remains on, have thevehicle serviced.See Section 5 of your Owner Manual.

Tire Inflator Kit (GXP Models)

Your vehicle does not have a spare tireor a jack. In case of a flat tire, a tireinflator kit is provided to seal smallpunctures in the tread area of the tire.The kit, located under the carpet in thetrunk, includes an air compressor, tiresealant canister, an accessory plug, andan air pressure gauge. To remove theinflator kit cover, turn the center nutcounterclockwise.Refer to the tire inflator kit instructionsfor complete operating information.See Section 5 of your Owner Manual.
