The art of starting an enterprise or an endeavor in life with the end in mind is termed vision.

Vision is the ability to see vividly the end of a thing or its destination at the beginning in your mind’s eye before it is realized.

D I S C O V E R Y O U R G R E AT N E S S : S TA R T W I T H T H E E N D I N M I N D

The one thing that can unite societies, people, families, workers, and groups adhesively together is not rules, laws, threats, oppression, or money but the clarity of vision.

For example, why would you agree to travel on a bus, plane, or train with a group of unknowns and sometimes weirdoes?

It is because the driver or pilot has declared the destination of the bus, train, or airplane; hence, there is a singleness of purpose.

God of order!

He put order in us

Prayer starts after order has been put in place

Remember Elijah and Prophets of Baal

God apportions every generation a portion of His Purpose

To everything there is a season or there is a time

If you focus on God’s assignments things would come to you which is seek Ye first the kingdom

Every purpose has a time!

When you understand God’s assignment for your life that is all you want!

When vision is completed then mission is accomplished then purpose is fulfilled

Well done is the last word from God so it’s possible to quit

Making it to the end of the assignment is more important than the assignment

Purpose is the original reason for the creation

Mission is the general assignment

Vision is a project you see with your eyes

Purpose -Not live outside

Mission - Build a house

Vision - What house I am capable of building

Jim Collins describes Israel’s core purpose as “to provide a secure place on Earth for the Jewish people.”

• The Christian Church of the nineties is drowning in a flood of human ideas and programs to bring "God's dreams" to pass. Impatient to impress, we preach on television each week, and our radio programs air three times a day.

• We knock on every door in town, run full- page advertisements in the newspaper, and our full- color billboards blanket every major highway.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• An endless parade of guest preachers and singers compete for our pulpits and the chance to entertain bloated, infantile believers with an acquired taste for shallow, uncommitted Christianity.

• Meanwhile, millions are dying of spiritual hunger and thirst outside our bannered walls.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• We promote popular spirituality and synthetic sincerity to the point where our members dance gaily from one congregation to the next, nibbling daintily at the latest religious smorgasbord of unanointed presentations and powerless pageantry.

• Somehow, we're missing the mark.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

Although our arrows all seem to be aimed in the right direction in our Christian lives and ministries, something is obviously out of order.

Ask any pastor, church leader, or minister, "What is your vision?" Without exception, they will immediately list all the goals they want to accomplish.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

! I'm going to reach this city.

! We are going to preach around the world.

! We're going to turn this nation around!

! We want to see signs, wonders, and miracles.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

! Harvest is coming in our city.

! God has given us prophecies, telling us that He has opened the windows of Heaven.

! This is God's valley....

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• Of course these statements line up with the purposes and results of the gospel, but as I listen to these statements from pastors and leaders across the nation, I wonder why we see so little accomplishment.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• If you typed or wrote down all the prophecies received in some of our churches, you could paper the walls of the building! If these promises were made of carpet, you could cover the parking lot with them.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• The struggle and frustration of it all is that while we constantly claim and target these lofty goals we are just not seeing the results they should produce. Yes, we are aiming our arrows at the right targets.

• God's people aren't talking about wrong things.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• In fact, I generally sense pure desire in the men and women of God I meet around the country.

• Their hearts are honest and they really do care; many of them live in real stress and anguish because of their desire to see their visions accomplished.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• Consequently, we often get sidetracked and impatient, inventing a flood of human ideas to bring our dreams to pass.

• What if God were to take away from the Church everything He never told us to do?

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• David wanted to build God a house, but the Lord had a totally different idea—"I am going to build you a house!"

• David's desires were good and his goals seemed right, but he learned that this was not God's order—the Lord had a totally different idea..."I am going to build you a house!"

• Thus was born the theme of this book, "The House That God Built" Since then, I've been amazed to see how much religion we've managed to heap onto God's simple plan.

• We, like Martha, are "cumbered about much serving," and we are "careful and troubled about many things" Luke 10:40-41

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• God wants to focus us; He wants to bring us into alignment in our settings, in our houses, and in our ministries.

• The vision is our target but God's order for His house must become defined and automatic in us.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• If you were to ask the apostle Paul, "What is your vision? What do you want more than anything for the Kingdom?" his reply would probably be, "I want a real relationship with Christ! Whatever it takes, I want to "know Him" (Phil. 3:10).

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• When a healthy father and mother come into proper relationship, they rarely have to try to have children. In fact the fruitfulness of their proper relationship can produce a different kind of problem— they have to be careful not to produce more offspring than they can properly raise.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• Children and reproduction are the natural product of proper relationship in a marriage.

• In the same way, reproduction and fruitfulness are the natural (or supernatural) product of proper relationships in the Kingdom of God.

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• Our lofty Kingdom goals of reaching towns, cities, nations, and the world shouldn't be seen as our causes and goals, so much as they should be the supernatural result of proper spiritual relationship, order, and alignment

M A R K H A N B Y: T H E H O U S E T H AT G O D B U I LT

• All too often, we focus on the result instead of on the reason for a thing. If we can discover God's way of doing a thing, if we can discern the consistent spiritual order He wants us to observe in our lives and ministry, then we won't have to spend so much time struggling.

• The key to God's spiritual order is revealed in The House That God Built.

• 2 Samuel 7:1-3 (NKJV)

• 1 Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around, 2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains.” 3 Then Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you.”

• 2 Samuel 7:4-6 (NKJV)

• 4 But it happened that night that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying, 5 “Go and tell My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Would you build a house for Me to dwell in? 6 For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle.

• 2 Samuel 7:7-8(NKJV)

• 7 Wherever I have moved about with all the children of Israel, have I ever spoken a word to anyone from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ ” ’ 8 Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.

• 2 Samuel 7:9-10 (NKJV)

• 9 And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. 10 Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously,

• 2 Samuel 7:11-13 (NKJV)

• 11 since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord tells you that He will make you a house.12 “When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

• 2 Samuel 7:14-16 (NKJV)

• 14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. 15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”

• 2 Samuel 7:18-20 (NKJV)

• 18 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord; and he said: “Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far? 19 And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord God; and You have also spoken of Your servant's house for a great while to come. Is this the manner of man, O Lord God? 20 Now what more can David say to You? For You, Lord God, know Your servant.

• 2 Samuel 7:21-23 (NKJV)

• 21 For Your word's sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all these great things, to make Your servant know them. 22 Therefore You are great, O Lord God. For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 23 And who is like Your people, like Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a name—and to do for Yourself great and awesome deeds for Your land—before Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, the nations, and their gods?

• 2 Samuel 7:24-26 (NKJV)

• 24 For You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; and You, Lord, have become their God. 25 “Now, O Lord God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever and do as You have said. 26 So let Your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel.’ And let the house of Your servant David be established before You.

• 2 Samuel 7:27-29 (NKJV)

• 27 For You, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You. 28 “And now, O Lord God, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant. 29 Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever.”
