FREE weekday service that operates during semester and runs every 30 minutes along two circular routes through Bentley and Waterford

Timetables and maps can be collected from Student Guild Complex, Security Centre, Student Central, START and on CurtinMobile.

Curtin Access Bus Service (CABS)

Runs every 15 minutes during peak hours along the Bentley route

Restricted to students and staff of Curtin University.

Buses can be hailed at any point along their designated route.

SafeZone is a free app for all students and staff that connects you directly to the Curtin University Security

Team when you need help or first aid.

Many of the crimes that occur on campus are crimes of opportunity. Remove the temptation by being careful, alert,

aware and by following these tips:

Do not leave valuables like mobile phones, iPads and laptops unattended at anytime

Do not leave purses or wallets in unsecured or unattended

Do not leave valuable items visible in you vehicle. Secure them in the boot of you vehicle.

Take a photo record of all valuables including recording the serial make and model numbers.

Bicycles must be parked in a bicycle rack or in the secure bike areas located around the campus.

Bicycle Safety

To prevent theft you should fasten your bicycle using a good quality locking system such as a D lock available for purchase at that Security office

Remove extras such as lights and helmets.

Have your bike frame security marked with your name and Drivers Licence number.

Keep a record of the frame serial number

Remember, the security of your property is ultimately your responsibility.

area’s Arrange to be picked up or go home with a friend Be aware of your surroundings – Other people (description’s),

possible use the ATM that is inside the shopping centre

and tucked under your arm Leave your passport and other valuables at home Do not show off your laptop, Ipod or other expensive electronic devices Carry your mobile phone in your pocket or hand – (out of sight) Engrave your property (Drivers licence number or school and student

number) Ensure your property is insured If possible use a backpack not a hand bag – (Not as easy to Steal) Keep your bag close to you if you don’t like a back pack If a car stops and the driver asks you a question - Don’t get to close to the

vehicle

What to do if you are attacked?

Handover your property over, rather than risk getting injured through being assaulted

Scream loudly Ring police immediately on 000 (Free Call) (Phone Box) Try to stay calm you will need to provide details to police Try to describe your attacker accurately, obtain the vehicle

registration and if possible write the information down The better the information the better chance Police have of

catching offenders

Vehicle Security Always lock your car and put valuables out of sight so

they are not visible to people walking by. Lock your valuables away in the boot if you need to

leave them in your car. Don’t leave your keys in the ignition, even when your

paying for petrol.

Ensure deadlocks / security screens are fitted to your doors and windows. (Security screens allows you to identify the person, whilst keeping you safe inside your home)

Always report any suspicious behaviour by contacting Curtin Security or the Police, depending where you are

If you see someone hanging around that shouldn’t be there or a car driving around slowly (acting suspiciously) Report it..!!

No matter how trivial it may be, it could help Police with a piece of the puzzle which may solve a crime

Drivers Licence

As long as you are on a Student Visa, you can use your Drivers Licence from your Country in W.A., however Police must be able to read it (English text) and it must be current

If it does not contain English text, then you must provide an International Drivers Licence

Car Licence and Insurance Ensure your vehicle is kept Licenced and insured at all

times, even if it is only 3rd Party Insurance. Also ensure your policy covers theft of items from your

vehicle and you may need to nominate certain items you want insured. i.e. Laptops, Camera’s, Golf Clubs etc
