DISTRICT PROFILE Flour Bluff Independent School district is comprised of 6 schools located in Corpus Christi Texas and serves 5,600 students. The student population is comprised of varied socio-economic backgrounds, therefore presenting multiple instructional needs. PROBLEM Anticipating the need to prepare underperforming students for the more rigorous STAAR assessment in 2012, Flour Bluff ISD sought to implement an effective and motivational math intervention program. SOLUTION 1500 students across Grades 5-12 were identified for remediation and assigned Think Through Math. Targeting the most essential skills and helping students learn how to think and solve problems, Think Through Math is both fun and effective. The program is also used for afterschool tutoring and homework. Students enrolled in the Think Through Math program saw dramatic increases in the 2011 TAKS across all grade levels.
