Sponsor yourself – Begin by sponsoring yourself at $25, $50 or $100! 2. Email friends to sponsor you – Send out 20 emails and letters to friends, family and colleagues (ask for a minimum donation of $25; 20 x $25 = $500) 3. Social media – Post your 500 Faces fundraising page on Facebook, Twitter and Google+. People will take notice and help you. 4. Follow up – Give shout outs on Facebook, Twitter and email recognizing the folks who have donated to your campaign (“Today’s Animal Advocate is Jane! Jane, thanks for your belief in excellent emergency and critical care for animals!”) 5. Tap your network – Make a list of folks in your network: dry cleaner, hairdresser, pharmacist, doctor, real estate agent, accountant, veterinarian, attorney, sorority/frater- nity/band alumni, mechanic, financial advisor, parents of your kids’ soccer team, insurance agent, lawn service company, counselor, professors, homeowners associa- tion members, the employees of other companies in your office building (put up a sign in your lunch room), run- ning and workout group. Ask them for $25 apiece! 6. Change your voicemail message – This will alert everyone who calls you that you are up to something special! Let them know that you need their support! 7. Getting Started:101 Fundraising Ideas1. Sponsoryourself – Begin by sponsoring yourself at

20.Facebookfans– Ask the company you work for to donate $1 to the 500 Faces campaign for every “like” the company’s page gets during the six week campaign. They’ll increase their fan base while making a charitable contribution to help animals in our community.

21.Emailsignature – Create an email signature with a link to your DoveLewis 500 Faces campaign homepage. You will be surprised at how many people will respond by donating!

22.Delegate– Get 10 of your friends to join your team. It’s more fun gathering donations together!

23.The2x4approach – Ask two co-workers and four friends to sponsor you at $25.

24.Throwaparty – Charge your friends $10 to attend!

25. Themedinner– Hold a theme party for 10 or more of your friends - donation: $50 per person. Spend no more than $20 per person on the food and you’ll have $300 (or more!) in donations by the end of the night.

26.Throwadessertparty – Solicit dessert donations from a local bakery, grocery store or coffee shop. Ask your friends for $10 to attend.

27.Housewarmingparty – Are you moving anytime soon? If so, ask your friends to make a donation instead of purchasing a gift for your new place.

28. Creativefriends – Find a local artist or a creative friend to donate a piece of art or some jewelry to be auctioned.

29.Closefriendscommittee – Use those who are close to you to serve as a “Friends Mini Committee” to reach your goal. Ask them to share their contacts, send out emails and letters, or help plan a party!

30.Organizeatreadmillorspinningmarathon – Ask your local health club if you can set up a treadmill in the lobby. Grab some friends and take turns running/spin-ning for as long as you can. Set up a bucket in front to collect bills to help save 500 animals!

31.Bingo – It turns out local Bingo games are required to give some of their profits to charity. Why not to help save 500 animals?!

32.Movieticketdonation – Ask your local movie theater to donate several tickets. Sell them and put the money towards your pledges.

33.Localtheaterdonation – Ask a local theater to donate a couple of tickets to one of their plays or musicals and auction them off.

34.Askyourlocalbartendertodonateaportionofoneday’stips – Ask a local bartender to donate tips from one night. You can create a sign for the bartender to place on the bar stating that “All tips collected tonight will go directly to DoveLewis’ 500 Faces campaign to help save 500 animals.” When patrons see that sign they may be willing to dig a little deeper in their pocket!

35.Doctor/Veterinarian – Ask him/her to make a check out for you instead of the other way around! Chances are they refer clients to DoveLewis already!

36.Dentist – Hopefully you won’t have to pull teeth to get him/her to help you out a little!

37. Chiropractor – They have cracked your back. Now ask them to crack open their checkbook and make a donation.

38.Yogainstructor– You have bent over backwards for them... now ask them to do the same for you!

39. Mechanic – You have given them lots of money to work on your car. Now it is time for them to give a little back to you!

40.Localradiostation – Call your favorite radio station and ask them to make an announcement on the air. They may even interview you.

41. Gym – Ask your gym to place a donation jar at the front desk! Leave a stack of donation forms at the counter, too.

42.Spinningclass– Have a stack of donation forms with you and ask your spinning instructor to make an announcement in class.

43. Hairsalon – Ask your barber or hairdresser to donate $5 from every appointment hour over one weekend.

44.Picnics – National holiday picnics are a great place to raise some money!

45.Mow-a-thon– Get your kids involved in this weekend activity. Check ahead of time with all your neighbors and ask them if you can mow their lawn for $50.

46.Neighbor – Write to all your neighbors on your block (or in your building) telling them about the opportunity to save 500 animals and ask them to donate.

47.Neighborhoodchores – Are you a Mr. or Ms. Fix-it? Many neighbors would probably rather pay you than someone else. Place signs around your neighborhood advertising your services (i.e. watering gardens, clean-ing roof gutters, sweeping the driveway, fixing an easy plumbing problem, painting a room, etc.)

48.Housesit – Friends going out of town for a while? Maybe they will pay you to watch their place.

49.Freerent!– Ask your landlord to donate one month’s rent to the cause!

50.Gardentour – Check with a local historical society to see if they would sponsor a garden tour of one or several homes in your area. Promote the event in local newspapers.

51.Churchbulletin – Place an advertisement in your church bulletin letting the congregation know what you’re up to!

52.Usethatvacationhome – Have a vacation home? Make your own raffle where your friends donate $5 for a chance to win a night stay at your vacation home.

53.Karaokenight – Sing it loud! Spend a Friday night at a Karaoke Bar and sing your heart out! Have the announcer tell the crowd that you’re singing for donations!

54.Talentedfriends – Is there a little piano bar in your neighborhood? Do you have a talented piano-playing friend? Ask the owner to let you host a cocktail/piano fun-draiser. Charge anyone who attends and let them know that it’s a benefit for DoveLewis’ 500 Faces campaign.

55.Gamenight – Get out those board games and start playing! Break into teams and let the fun begin.

56.Hostapokergame – Call your serious (or not so serious) card-playing friends and invite them over for poker night.

57.Bowlingnights – Plan a fun night of bowling at the local alley. Ask the owner to waive the fees and you can collect that money and apply it to your campaign.

58.Hostacook-off – Do your friends think they can make “the best pizza in Portland”? Host a cook-off party and make the entry fee a $25 donation.

59.Rockon! – If you know any musicians, ask them to perform a benefit concert. Tell people that their admis-sion ticket is a check made out to DoveLewis.

60.Wineandcheeseparty – Host a party at a local res-taurant. Ask the owner to donate the wine and cheese.

61.Campfireparty – Have friends and family bring a $10 donation to relax and roast marshmallows with you and the dogs by a beach campfire.

62.Televisionshowfinaleparty – Remember when Chandler married Monica? Remember when Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer ended up in jail? How about when Niles and Daphne sped off in an RV on the “Fra-sier” finale? Gather a big group and friends and watch a series finale. Charge them at the door and put the $$ toward your fundraising.

63.Thedoctorsarein – Are you a Grey’s Anatomy, House or Scrubs die-hard fan? Host a hospital-oriented house party, ask friends to where scrubs, serve heart-healthy snacks and beverages, and collect a $20 donation from each attendee.

64.Localstores – Ask a local store manager what the hot selling item is these days and if they would be willing to donate a % of sales from that particular item to you.

65.Callingonotherparents – If your kids play on base-ball leagues or take ballet lessons, distribute your dona-tion forms to the other parents at the event – especially to families who have pets!

66. Isthereateacherinthehouse? – Get your students to help you fundraise. Kids are incredibly creative and cute, too! Have them put together those green ribbons for you!

67.Cursejar – Place a curse jar in your office and when-ever someone says a bad word, they have to put a dollar in the jar.

68.Universitiesandcolleges – Contact your local schools and ask if you can put an advertisement in their school newsletter asking for donations. Some of the organizations may even invite you to make a short presentation.

69.Fraternitiesandsororities– Contact the national chapter of your college fraternity or sorority and ask them to make a donation.

70.Alumniorganizations – Call your own college or university and ask them to place an ad in the alumni newsletter asking for donations.

71.Petstores– Contact a couple of the pet store compa-nies. Tell them you’re raising money to help save 500 animals and ask them if they would like to sponsor you. You may even get some cool animal gear!

72.Computerscreensavers – Create a 500 Faces screen saver and send it to everyone in your company! A gentle reminder is a good reminder!

73.Meetthepress– Does your company distribute a newsletter? Does your company have an intranet message board? Take advantage of these! It’s a perfect way to get the word out.

74.Companyvacationdays – Ask your boss or human resources director if they can swap one of your vacation days for a day’s pay.

75.Dressdownday – Ask your company to allow an official DoveLewis Dress Down Day. For the privilege of dressing down, employees donate $20 toward DoveLewis’ 500 Faces campaign.

76.Putinovertime – Ask your boss if you can put in over-time. Make a mental note that the money earned goes to DoveLewis’ 500 Faces campaign.

77.Companygrants – Find out if your company of-fers grants to employees who volunteer their time for charitable causes. If so, you can volunteer your time at the DoveLewis office and get paid grant money for the work. You may need a letter from us stating that you’ll be volunteering in the office and we’d be happy to make that happen.

78. Taxshare – Was Uncle Sam generous with your tax return? Pay it forward and donate a portion to help your furry community members.

79.Sellyourwares – Are you or a friend a sales rep for Pampered Chef, Gigi Hill, Mary Kay, Cookie Lee, etc.? Host a party and donate all proceeds to the campaign!

80.Colordonationforms – Capture your recipients’ at-tention. Send them in colored envelopes too. These will stand out among your friends’ bills and junk mail.

81. Inspirationalbookmarks – Create them and sell them to your friends and family.

82.Doyouhaveafavoritemagazine? – Call the editor and ask them to be your sponsor. If you have subscribed to a particular magazine for a long time they may be willing to give something back to you.

83.Birthday? – Ask for donations instead of gifts.

84.Temporarytattoos – Swap a temporary tattoo for a $10 donation.

85.Mayday! – Host a May Day 500 Faces party for your friends with pets! Ask for a $15 donation and be sure your friends leave with pet-friendly May Day baskets!

86.Donatewithyourcupofjoe– Ask your local coffee shop if you can put a donation jar at their register.

87.Popcansforpets – Take back your bottles and cans and donate your refund to help animals in need.

88.Calendargirls – Get together with some friends and make a calendar of your pets to sell to friends and family.

89. YouTube – Make a YouTube video of your pet doing some-thing funny. On the website, ask viewers to donate $1.

90.Ebay – Remember the garage sale idea? Auction off the remaining items on Ebay.

91.Greenribbondistribution – Create small green rib-bons to bring awareness to our campaign to save 500 animals. Sell them to your friends, family members, etc.

92.Donationsforeachdayofthecampaign – Ask sup-porters to pledge an amount for each of the 41 days of DoveLewis’ 500 Faces campaign (i.e. $2 per day = $82!)

93.Dailyphoto – Post a photo a day of your pet on Face-book for the 41 days of the campaign! Ask for a daily sponsor of $12. At the end of the 41 days, pitch in $12 of your own and you will have $504, just past your goal!

94.Sellpetsponsorships – Get your friends to sponsor your pets for $50 each. You could even name your team in honor of your furry friend.

95. Inmemoryof – If you are raising money in memory of a four-legged loved one, include a picture of them on your pledge page, letter, email, etc.

96.Hostamuttstrut – For $30, people bring their dog and go on an organized “walk” together. Host a pet contest for best dressed pooch and offer donated prizes!

97.Holdacarordogwash – Get your friends and neighbors to help. Put 500 Faces signage all over and collect bills in a bucket.

98. Backstagetour – Ask a potential donor to take a tour of DoveLewis. They may be more willing to donate once they fully understand what happens within the hospital walls!

99.Pawparty – Get your friends together for a party to honor their pets. Everyone bring their favorite picture of their furry family member and donate $5 to be included in the contest. Donate the proceeds to 500 Faces, and the winner gets ultimate bragging rights.

100.Givinglevels– Create different prizes for various levels of giving towards the campaign. Perhaps a $25 donation receives a coffee date with you and a $100 donation receives a batch of your homemade cookies delivered directly to their house. Get creative!

101.Make10copiesofthislist – Send the copies to friends and family and ask them to choose one thing on the list to help you fundraise!
