1. About this guide
This guide describes the modifications you have to perform before the accelerator card can be used. The guide is available online at
http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com (EMEA market) or
http://jp.fujitsu.com/platform/server/primergy/manual/ (Japanese market).
The mechanical installation of accelerator cards can be found in the Upgrade and Maintenance Manual of the specific server (also available from the above given web site).
The original manufacturer’s documentation can be found on the web at:
http://www.nvidia.eu/tesla (EMEA market) or
http://www.nvidia.co.jp (Japanese market)

2. Supported configuration
2.1. Released Hardware
The following PRIMERGY servers currently support NVIDIA Tesla® K40 ACCELERATOR cards.
CX270 S2
RX350 S8
TX300 S8 The following accelerator cards currently can be installed in the above PRIMERGY server(s).
NVIDIA Tesla® K40
2.2. Required Firmware
Fujitsu does not assume responsibility for any damage done to the server or for the loss of any data resulting from firmware updates.
For TX300 S8 / RX350 S8 only:
The following release (or higher) of the iRMC firmware has to be installed prior to the installation of the accelerator card: iRMC FW 7.37F SDR 3.69 (mandatory)
2.3. Required BIOS version
For TX300 S8 / RX350 S8 only:
The BIOS version of the respective server has to be V1.7.0 or higher.

3. Modification of the BIOS settings
This chapter describes how to modify the BIOS for the NVIDIA Tesla® accelerator card.
The following procedures are not necessary for CX270 S2
3.1. Starting the BIOS setup
All procedures have to be executed as root user.
Start the BIOS setup:
3.2. Selecting the right menu
Select the “Advanced” menu.
Select the “Above 4G Decoding” entry (see circle). Its default value is “Disabled” (see
arrow).
7
3.3. Changing the value of the relevant entry
Now change this value to “Enabled” (see arrow). This enables the accelerator card.
Please keep in mind that loading default values via “Restore Defaults” will change the BIOS entry “Above 4G Decoding” from “Enabled” back to “Disabled”.
8
3.4. Verifying the modification
Make sure the value has been changed to “Enabled” (see circle).
Save the changed BIOS entry via “Save as User Defaults” in order to be able to restore it
via “Restore User Defaults”.
Thus the accelerator card is ready for use.
4. Concluding steps
Leave the BIOS setup via “Save and Exit” to keep the changed entry and boot your
server. The accelerator card can be used now.
The firmware version should always be up to date. The latest firmware version is available from the Fujitsu support web pages at:
http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/ (EMEA market)
http://jp.fujitsu.com/platform/server/primergy/downloads/ (Japanese market)
