Access help and training tools ABOUT THIS WORKBOOK This workbook is designed to be used alongside Thomson Reuters Eikon. On the following pages you’ll find a series of exercises that will introduce you to the basics of Thomson Reuters Eikon.

Each exercise is marked with this icon, along with a summary of the exercise. Just follow the instructions in the left hand column to complete the exercise. Visuals are provided in the right hand column to guide you and to show you what your screen should look like.

BEFORE YOU START The Thomson Reuters Eikon Home Page displays the most relevant information based on your job role. Some of the examples in this workbook are based on a Home Page tailored for Foreign Exchange markets. If you want to follow our examples exactly then you should set your Home Page to display Fixed Income information.

1. Navigate to My Eikon My Profile. 2. Click the Edit link in the Professional Profile section. 3. Select Foreign Exchange FX Trader from the list of Job Roles. 4. Click Save.

Your Home Page will update to display Foreign Exchange information.

STARTING THOMSON REUTERS EIKON It’s easy to log on to Thomson Reuters Eikon.

In this activity you’ll learn how to log on to Thomson Reuters Eikon for the first time.

Your welcome email will give you instructions on downloading and installing Thomson Reuters Eikon. For more information, watch the eLearning module on Installing Thomson Reuters Eikon, available at: training.thomsonreuters.com.

When you log on to Thomson Reuters Eikon for the first time, you will be given your new User ID, and prompted to choose a password. The password must be at least eight characters long, and contain a mix of uppercase, lowercase and numbers. Type your chosen password into the field. Confirm it by retyping it into the second field, and click Next to open the Registration Details form.

Here you can specify your job role, and market focus. The job role you select will affect your Thomson Reuters Eikon experience. In the example at right, we set the job role to Foreign Exchange Job Roles - FX Trader. The Thomson Reuters Eikon Home Page will be customized with Foreign Exchange and Money Market News, Quick Links and Key Rates. Next, select your Market Focus. This is the broad geographical location of the markets that primarily interest you. Select Europe; then click Finish.

Next, read the Software License agreement, then tick the checkbox and click Accept.

Choose your Primary location and click Download. Follow the onscreen prompts. Then click Run to complete the download.

Enter your user ID and password. Click Sign In to Thomson Reuters Eikon. Note: you can now log in to Thomson Reuters Eikon Mobile while logged in on your desktop. While you are logged in to the Mobile application, the desktop version will be minimized and locked.

Signing in to Thomson Reuters Eikon will also automatically log you into your Thomson Reuters Messenger and Collaboration tools.

INTRODUCTION TO CONTENT EXPLORER The Thomson Reuters Eikon Home Page is your gateway to finding Thomson Reuters data and news, people, ready-made screeners, and much more…all in an intuitive browser-based interface.

This exercise will take you on a tour of the wealth of information that is available in Thomson Reuters Eikon through the Content Explorer.

Let’s take a look at some of the features in Content Explorer. You can access a wealth of information through the search field on your Home Page.

Let’s see how this works. Type FTSE in the search field. A list of matching results will appear in auto suggest. Select the FTSE 100 Index.

This will take you to the Overview page for the FTSE 100. Click Home to return to the Home Page.

Here you can use the menu system to browse for information by asset class or country. The Asset Class menu on the left enables you to browse by asset class. To see how this works, select Money Markets.

The Asset Class Overview page displays benchmark charts, bid and ask prices, and news headlines for an asset class or market. Use the dropdown menu at the top of the page to focus on a particular currency or region.

Select British Pound Sterling. You can scroll down the page to view related economics events and links to useful analysis tools and calculators.

Now return to the top of the page. Here you can click on a tab to drill down to the instrument level, view news and events, or find market data and tools related to your view. Click through each of these tabs to see the information that they include.

To view data at Country level, open the Countries menu, and select a country. Open this menu and select United Kingdom.

The Country Overview page gives a comprehensive view of the available information for a country, including news and events, debt structure, central bank information and news, economic data, and broker research documents. Once you’ve looked at the Country Overview page, return to the Home Page.

Your Home Page will update regularly with the latest news stories for your market. Try clicking on a headline to read the full story.

The More tab contains the top news categories to your market. Click this tab now.

In the example at right, we’re using an FX Trader’s profile, so we see that the news categories relevant to the Foreign Exchange market are selected. You can use this dialog to select additional categories, or to deselect categories. Click OK when you’re done making any changes to the news categories that are displayed.’ [

Scroll down the page to view quote information and links related to the selected news story. The links are embedded in the article. Click the View Real time icon to view quote information for any instrument codes you find in the story. Click on an instrument code to open an Instrument Overview. Find an instrument code in the article you’re viewing and click on it.

The Instrument Overview is a single access point for all the data and tools available on Thomson Reuters Eikon for an instrument or company.

You can click on the links on this page to open a related tool, or click on the Quote, News and Chart icons at right to open a real-time pop-up app.

Now let’s look at some of the ways that you can customize your display. Press F11 to view Thomson Reuters Eikon in Full Screen mode. You can configure Thomson Reuters Eikon to display on multiple monitors, giving you even more room to analyze and monitor your markets. To do this, open the Main Menu.

Then select File>New Window. Note: you can also open your display on two monitors by pressing F3.

Once your second window is open, drag it to your second monitor.

CHANGING YOUR DESKTOP THEME The Thomson Reuters Eikon default desktop theme displays white text on a charcoal background. However, you can change the theme so that it shows black text on a white background.

Change the theme of Thomson Reuters Eikon.

To change to an alternative theme, click on the Thomson Reuters Eikon logo. Open the Tools menu. Then select Choose Theme.

Use the Theme and Colors dialog to change color schemes for the desktop and instrument movements. Use the menus to change Color Theme to Pearl (black text on a white background), and the Instrument Movement Colors to American. Note: The American theme shows unchanged stocks as black text. When you’re done, click OK.

A dialog will appear. Click OK to confirm your changes.

The change will affect all open documents, and will modify any color customizations that you have already made.

FIND MORE CONTENT WITH THE RELATED MENU Thomson Reuters Eikon uses the information in your profile to provide you with relevant, timely data and tools to help you work smarter.

Access the My Profile page and edit your job role, key industries, contact details, and other information.

To change your Eikon profile, open the My Eikon menu.

Then select My Profile.

Here you can edit your privacy settings, and specify the information that you want to make available to other Thomson Reuters Eikon users.

You can also check your product permissions, change your base language, or change your password.

To edit your contact list of Thomson Reuters Eikon users, select My Contacts from the My

Eikon menu.

Click on a name to view a user profile.

Now let’s look at the My Preferences section of the My Eikon menu.

My Preferences enables you to configure the Thomson Reuters Eikon. For example, let’s add a language to the list of languages this user can read. Scroll down the page and find the Languages Read section. Then click Edit.

Here you can select the languages that you would like displayed in Thomson Reuters Eikon.

GETTING HELP AND FURTHER TRAINING Thomson Reuters Eikon provides you with a number of help and training resources.

Access the help and training resources available through Thomson Reuters Eikon.

The Home Page features a Product Messages section. Here you will find notifications relating to regular releases and new features.

Throughout the product, you can press F1 to access context-sensitive help. In this example, we have a Chart Object selected. Try selecting a chart object in Thomson Reuters Eikon, and pressing F1.

Pressing F1 opens the online help showing help topics for the Chart Object.

You can also access a variety of tools for getting the most from Thomson Reuters Eikon through the Main Menu. From here, open the Help menu. This will open a list of help and support options. Click Help.

Here you can browse and search online help topics, common support queries, and eLearning modules designed to help you learn about Thomson Reuters Eikon without leaving your desk. Once you’ve had a look at the Help tab, click Contact Us.

This page links you to the Thomson Reuters Eikon support team. If you’d like, you can enter a question in the text box. Complete the form, and press Send. A Thomson Reuters support representative will contact you.

Now return to the Help menu and select Training.

Here you can quickly access a program of Live and On Demand courses for a wide range of Thomson Reuters products.

Selecting the New Features link from the Help menu displays the Product Features page, which includes a search field and a selection of filters that enable you to find new features designed for your job role and workflows. Migration Help is designed to help you make the move to Thomson Reuters Eikon without losing any vital data.
