These panel edges can all be moved and then locked into place using the Panel Lock button.

The next thing to do is add a well or wells to the database. All documents are referenced to a UWI (Unique Well Identifier).

Only those wells loaded into the database can have documents loaded to them and shown on the maps.

Wells can be added one at a time through the Load/Wells tabs (Fig. 4) or by using an Excel spreadsheet to import multiple wells. (See Fig. 6).

Set your Global Location to reflect the correct Latitude and Longitude of the wells that you are adding to the database. Western longitudes and Southern Latitudes MUST be preceded by a minus sign (-), in order to show correctly on the maps.

In the Prov/State box, type a location and click the + button to add it to the database, if it doesn‟t already exist.

Click the „Add New Row‟ button to add a row to the grid. Double click under Uwi and enter the well UWI. Double click under Latitude and Longitude to enter the well coordinates into the grid.

Click the „Check Grid‟ button to validate the entries. If the line turns green (See Fig. 5), then it is OK to click the „Commit‟ button. You should see “1 Well Loaded” in the message label.

Multiple document types can be loaded at the same time through the Load/Documents page. (Fig. 7) Copy the documents you want to load into the „Documents To Load‟ folder, on your hard drive. The documents info can be added to the grid one at a time or by creating an Excel spreadsheet.

Load grid.

To use a spreadsheet, click on Tools on the main menu and choose: “Documents To Load.xls”.

Browse for a folder to extract the Exel file into. (See Fig. 8)

Open the Exel file and fill in the information.

A long file name may be copied from a Windows Explorer window and copied into the spreadsheet. (See Fig. 9)

Click on the file name in the Explorer window to highlight it. Right click on the name, or press F2 to put the name in edit mode. Ensure the entire name is highlighted, including the file extension. Right click and choose copy. Paste the file name into the appropriate cell in the spreadsheet. This will reduce errors when entering long file names.
