“If you see missions as
just another menu item
in the great cafeteria of
church programs, you have
made the Great Commission
an option. It is not an
option; it is the mission of
the church!”Johnny Hunt, pastor of First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Ga., “Get Connected: Mobilizing Your Church for God’s Mission”

The people group name below indicates a group where less than 2 percent of the population is evangelical Christian. If they are unengaged, we know of no church planting strategy among the group. No one is trying to reach them! They have truly never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you don’t have an unreached people group and corresponding number, follow the instructions at the top of page 2.
If they are engaged, there is currently someone (IMB
missionary, Great Commission Christian partner, indigenous church) working among them. Your church can
make a difference. Take this journey with your members.

If you selected a people group at the SBC or another event, your journey of discovery begins by going to . Enter the people group number in the designated area. If you have NOT already selected a people group, go to imb.org/GettingThere and select one.
Stop now on your journey to reflect on what you have discovered about this people group.
What images come to my mind when I consider this group?
How do I feel, realizing that most of them do
not know the saving message of Christ?
■
What do I think it would be like to grow up in a culture where the name of Jesus was not known, where my family and friends worshipped a false god, and where there was little chance I would ever
have the opportunity to respond to the Gospel of Christ?
How can I share what I have discovered with my church so they will be inspired and motivated to join this journey to
reach our people group?

A prayer journey starts in your heart and reaches
beyond anything you can imagine. Prayer will be the
fuel your church will need to continue on the road

Journey through Prayer
How does my prayer life reflect my heart for the lost?
Does my church pray fervently for the salvation of a lost world? If not, how could they be more focused in prayer for the unreached?
How can my church connect with our people group through prayer?

■What did my church give last year to the Cooperative Program and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering?
■How would I describe the attitude of my church family when it comes to giving to missions?
How would my church answer the question, “What will it take to reach our people group for Christ?”
What more is my church willing to give to see the Gospel advanced among our people group?
“Four from our church went to
Kenya on a discovery trip. Not only were we
hooked, but our heightened enthusiasm for
missions quickly spread throughout the entire
congregation. We took three trips back to Africa
to partner with the missionaries within a year-
and-a-half of that f irst expedition. Our church is
no longer giving to fulf ill an obligation, we give
to meet real needs. We give more because we
know we make a difference."
Journey through Giving
Your church’s giving to missions translates to souls saved for the kingdom of heaven. For reasons like these we are able to celebrate what God is doing with the help of your missionaries and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering®:
Yet there are still 6,426 people groups untouched by the Gospel! If we are serious about reaching them, it will take obedience and sacrifice.

If my church decides to take on the challenge of reaching our people group, how can they be prepared to do that?
What resources does my church use to prepare to be engaged in missions?
What resources do I see on that would help equip my church to respond to God’s leading?
How do I begin to equip different age levels in the church for this journey to reach our people group?
Journey through Preparation
One reason people are often hesitant to pray, give or go is that they do not feel equipped for the journey. You can help people by giving them the tools they need to move forward as the Lord leads.

(Your notes)
What opportunities for partnering do I already know about?
How can I start or join a partnership for my people group in our church and community?
“Our church really feels like God is calling us to have a
greater impact to complete our faith and trust in Him and step out of the box. We’re not afraid
anymore to commit more people, more dollars, more
resources whatever it might be to answer His call.”
Journey Through Partnering
You are not alone on this journey. It is possible that
the unreached peoples of the world could hear the Gospel within this generation! But it will take all of us. Your church can partner with other churches, with missionaries on the field and with other Great Commission Christians to reach your destination.

What are the eternal implications if we don’t go to our
people group?
What do I feel when I think about actually going on an international missions trip?
What support would a missions team receive from my church?
How can I prepare my church to respond to God’s call to send workers into the field?
“Every church, every class, every small group should view itself as a sending
post. Whether you have 30 people or 1,000, they are potential missionaries to
serve the nations."”Johnny Hunt, pastor of First Baptist Church,
Woodstock, Ga.
Journey Through Going
Perhaps the most frightening thing to consider on this journey is actually going. Get a passport, take time off from work, dig deep into your pockets and go. Go where people don’t speak your language, go to places that might make you uncomfortable, go into worlds you haven’t even imagined. But that’s our call: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.”
If you are considering going on a short-term volunteer missions trip or dealing with the call to full-time missions, the IMB has the information you need to get started. Visit imb.org and click “Go.” Be obedient to God’s call on your life.

We can get there in our
generation! But that last mile on
the journey will be the hardest.
It will take all of us – every
church, every missionary, every
national partner, every Great
Commission partner. Will you
lead your church to accept the
responsibility of the Great
Commission as never before, to
see that all peoples know Him?
How committed am I to making sure our people group hears the saving message of Jesus Christ?
How can I lead my church to be obedient to God’s call to reach the nations?
What could God do in the life of our church as we reach across the world to see an unreached people group come to Christ?
For the first time in
history we can identify
the people groups that
remain untouched by
the Gospel
