Importance of insurance education and awareness in microinsurance market development

Through an alliance with SENA, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Fasecolda Foundation. We are carrying out a program to educate rural populations about risk, savings and insurance.

To date we have held 4 training events reaching more than 200 farmer associations.

Shall show presentations to the staff; Discuss review present microinsurance product; Improve if required product/ distribution/ claim handling

Review status of present alliances and try to deepen relationships; prepare a list of new alliances to be targeted and try to enter into.

Lesson Learned Follow-up Activity Results

The importance of the consumer education to increase the consumer numbers and to increase the insurance products knowledge

We are planning to develop beginning 2010 an educational tool for the organization staff as well as the consumers

Have started a process of developing an educational DVD movie with ADA and a consultant. In a first time it will be used to support training for staff of MFIs but in a second step we will adapt it to educate customers. The meetings and exchanges have already occurred and the synopsis is validated.
