GEZE door closers with link arm

1) Back check

When doors are pushed open forcefully by approximately

90°, this function is activated in order to slow them down.

However, it must not be used as a substitute for separate

measures designed to limit the opening angle (such as a

door stopper or other structural method), e.g. in the case of

doors that open outwards or are liable to blow in the wind.

2) Closing speed

The speed at which a door closes can be set on an individual

basis.

3) Latching action

When the door is just a few degrees away from reaching the

closed position, this function increases the door speed in

order to overcome any closing resistance (e.g. in the form

of air resistance).

4) Delayed closing action

This function reduces the closing speed of a door or stops

the door so that people have enough time to get through it.

GEZE door closers with adjustable closing force:

The relevant standards stipulate that the door closer size (closing

force of the closer) must be selected in accordance with the door

leaf width.

Where necessitated by the structural (door height, door weight) or

local conditions (wind), the next size up must be set.

The GEZE TS 4000, TS 2000 and related versions o" er several door

closer sizes in one housing. The desired size can be selected by

means of an adjustment screw or by altering the mounting posi-

tion. The TS 4000 features an indicator so you can see which size is

currently selected.

Link arm door closer for single-leaf doors with a leaf width up to 950 mm

The overhead door closer is suitable for single-leaf doors with a leaf width up to 950 mm. The closing speed and hydraulic latching action

can be adjusted. There are two di! erent closing force settings, which can be selected simply by turning the bearing block for the link arm:

‘Weak’ closing force (size 2 acc. to EN 1154) for door leaf widths up to 850 mm and “strong” closing force (size 3 acc. to EN 1154) for door leaf

widths up to 950 mm. The door closer is available with an optional mounting plate. This makes it suitable for left and right single-action

doors without the need for conversion.

TS 4000 overhead door closer is approved for use with left and right single-action doors with leaf widths up to 1600 mm (without any need

for conversion) and for mounting on ! re and smoke doors. The closing force to EN 1154 size 5-7 is in! nitely variable from the front and is easy

to monitor thanks to the optical size indicator. The back check and thermo-constant closing speed are also adjustable from the front; the

latching action is adjusted by means of the link arm. The closer features a safety valve for both the open and close directions.

1) Product information and use as intended

Within this context, door closers are to be de! ned as products for

closing swing doors after they have been opened manually. The closing

action is dampened using a hydraulically adjustable feature. The level of

closing force required for speci! c leaf widths is de! ned in EN 1154. In

the case of non-standard applications, the details provided by the manu-

facturer are to be regarded as de! nitive. Door closers are used on inter-

nal swing doors made from metal, timber or plastic and combinations

thereof. When used on ! re and smoke doors or other standardised self-

closing doors, they are subject to strict requirements in terms of the type

of installation and their position. Any deviation from these requirements

constitutes improper use.

Proper use of door closers (use as intended) relies on doors being in-

stalled perpendicular and their being able to move smoothly; it is also

dependent on the door closers being properly secured. The products

must be installed and adjusted professionally in accordance with the

manufacturer’s speci! cations.

Where local conditions are particularly unfavourable (wind), door closers

with higher torques must be used.

It is particularly important to use door closers with a back check function

on swing doors that are exposed to wind when opening outwards.

The back check function helps protect people, door elements, plus near-

by walls and objects, without restricting the door opening angle. If the

structural conditions of the door are such that there is a risk of the door

leaf hitting the frame in the vicinity of the door’s axis of rotation, a bu" er

must be installed to limit the door’s maximum opening angle. If swing

doors are to be ! xed in the open position, this may only be achieved

using special additional ! ttings or integrated constructional elements.

When used with ! re and smoke doors, the devices must be o# cially ap-

proved by the German Institute for Building Technology (door suitability

certi! cates must be heeded).

Door closers are not suitable for installation on swing doors in the case of

unprotected exterior mounting or for installation in environments where

the air contains aggressive, corrosive substances or in extremely high or

low temperatures.

Following installation, enclosures for $ oor-mounted door closers must

be protected against soiling. If $ oor-mounted door closers are exposed

to penetrating water (e.g. wet rooms or external doors with no protec-

tion from the rain), the area between the cement box and the door closer

cover must be sealed with a suitable sealing compound.

Compliance with mandatory statutory provisions must be ensured,

where applicable, before door closers (including any additional devices)

are installed and commissioned.

2) Misuse

Misuse (i.e. improper use of door closer products for swing doors) includes,

in particular:

j The presence of obstacles in the closing area, scraping doors, sticking

seals, wooden wedges, etc. that hinder the door’s closing actionj Incorrect or improper mounting and/or adjustmentj Reaching into the area between the door frame and leaf

(risk of injury)j If the warranted properties are likely to trigger proper functioning,

e.g. in the event of storms or unusual levels of overpressure or

underpressure acting on the door

Product information for door closers

Due to the liability the manufacturer has for its products under the German product liability law (§ 4 Prod-HaftG), the following information regarding

door closers for swing doors must be observed. Non-compliance discharges the manufacturer from its liability.

j If door closers are used for any purpose other than closing doorsj If the selected door closer size does not tally with the manufac-

turer’s recommendations

3) Product performance

Where catalogues, brochures, manuals, etc. do not contain speci! c de-

tails of product performance, special requirements must be discussed

and agreed with the manufacturer.

The EN 1154 standards serve as a guideline. These standards stipulate

the vast majority of basic and additional requirements. Amongst other

things, the usability of door closers depends on how often they are

operated, how they are operated, environmental in$ uences and how

they are cared for. Door closers must be replaced as soon as the door’s

closing action can no longer be guaranteed to be fault-free and reli-

able.

4) Product maintenance

Safety-related components of door closers must be checked regularly

for tightness and signs of wear (depending on what the requirements

are). Fixing screws must be re-tightened and defective components

replaced. In addition, the following maintenance work must be car-

ried out at least once a year (depending on the swing door type and

extent of use):

j Grease all moving parts on the link armj In the case of door closers with special functions (hold-open

mechanisms and hold-open devices), ensure compliance with

statutory inspections, monitoring requirements and suggested

maintenance intervalsj Check the closer settings, e.g. the closing speedj Check that the door is able to move easily

Do not use any cleaning agents that contain corrosive or damaging

ingredients.

Guide rail door closer for single-leaf doors with up to 750 mm leaf width

The overhead door closer TS 1500 G with guide rail is suitable for single leaf interior doors up to 750 mm leaf width (fi xed closing force EN size 1). The closing speed and hydraulic end stop are adjustable. The door closer is optionally available with a mounting plate and is suitable for both right and left-hand single-action doors without conversion.

The TS 3000 V overhead door closer is for single-leaf right and left-hand single-action doors up to 1100 mm wide and is approved for mounting on fi re and smoke doors. The closing force, size 1-4 to EN 1154, can be adjusted at the side, the hydraulic end stop and the thermo-controlled closing speed can be adjusted from the front.

Special versions:

• TS 3000 V with mechanical hold-open, continuously adjustable between 80° and 130° (not approved for mounting on fi re and smoke doors)• TS 3000 VBC with backcheck, adjustable from the front

The TS 5000 overhead door closer stands for clear, clean lines and diverse system variations. It is for single-leaf right and left-hand single-action doors with large leaf widths up to 1400 mm and approved for use on fi re and smoke doors. The closing force, size 2-6 to EN 1154, like the thermo-control closing speed, the hydraulic end stop and the backcheck can be eff ortlessly adjusted from the front when installed. Thanks to the visual size display the set closing force is easy to check.

GEZE TS 5000 E

Thanks to the electromechanical hold-open (to EN 1155) in the 30 mm low guide rail the TS 5000 E overhead door closer can be continuously adjusted to an exact point between 80° and 130°. Since this hold-open device is released in the event of fi re or a power failure and the door closes safely, this closer is authorised for use with single leaf fi re and smoke doors. The closing force, size 2-6 to EN 1154, the closing speed, the end stop and the backcheck can be adjusted from the front. The door closer has a visual size display. The holding force of the hold-open is adjustable and the hold-open position can be overridden.

The TS 5000 R overhead door closer with electromechanical hold-open (to EN 1155) and integrated smoke switch control unit in the 30 mm low guide rail is approved for mounting on single-leaf fi re and smoke doors. The TS 5000 EFS overhead door closer for single leaf doors is equipped with the "freeswing" function. It is possible to use the door with little eff ort in the opening or closing direction, e.g. in retirement facilities or hospitals, after the freeswing function has been activated by opening the door once to approx. 90°, e.g. in the morning. Safe automatic closing of the door in the event of a fi re. As a result, it is approved for mounting on single-leaf fi re and smoke doors, to EN 1155. The door closer is approved for mounting on right and left-hand single-action doors with up to 1250 mm leaf width. The closing force to EN 1154, size 2-5, the closing speed and the end stop are adjustable from the front. The door closer has a visual size display.

GEZE TS 5000 ISM

Guide rail door closer system for double-leaf doors up to 2800 mm hinge clearance with integrated closing sequence control

The integrated closing sequence control ensures the correct closing sequence of both doors for double-leaf doors. When closing the door the active leaf remains in the waiting position until the fi xed leaf is closed and releases the active leaf via the closing sequence control. The GEZE system solution consists of two TS 5000 overhead door closers with adjustable closing force, size 2-6 to EN 1154, combined with the ISM guide rail with integrated mechanical closing sequence control, tested to EN 1158. The overhead door closing system TS 5000 ISM is approved for double-leaf fi re and smoke doors.The TS 5000 L-ISM-VP variation is available for the side opposite the hinge. As a full-panic solution it is suitable for use with an X dimension of up to 100 mm.

Guide rail door closer system for double-leaf doors up to 2500 mm hinge clearance with integrated closing sequence control and electrical freeswing function

With the GEZE TS 5000 ISM-EFS system solution for double -leaf doors, with the help of the ISM-EFS guide rail and the TS 5000 E Hy door closer (with integrated hydraulic hold-open), are used to implement the "free swing" function at the active leaf. The door must be opened once, for example, in the morning, to approximately 90°. The fi xed leaf closes automatically thanks to a TS 5000 over-head door closer. The integrated mechanical closing sequence control is carried out by the ISM guide rail. The GEZE system solution consists of one overhead door closer TS 5000 E Hy size 2-5 to EN 1154 on the active leaf and one TS 5000 size 2-6 to EN 1154 on the fi xed leaf, combined with ISM-EFS guide rail with integrated mechanical closing sequence control, tested to EN 1158 and freeswing function at the active leaf, can be activated by opening the door by 90° once. The TS 5000 ISM-EFS overhead door closer system is approved for double-leaf fi re and smoke doors.

The TS 5000 E-ISM overhead door closer system for double-leaf doors with integrated, invisible closing sequence control has anadditional electromechanical hold-open function in the guide rail so that the door can be opened to an exact point. As the hold-open releases in the event of fi re and the doors close automatically, the system is approved for use with fi re and smoke doors. The GEZE system solution consists of two TS 5000 overhead door closers with adjustable closing force, size 2-6 to EN 1154, combined with the E-ISM guide rail with integrated mechanical closing sequence control, tested to EN 1158 and electromechanical hold-open to EN 1155 on both sides. The holding force is adjustable and the hold-open position can be overridden.The TS 5000 L-E-ISM-VP variation is available for the side opposite the hinge. As a full-panic solution it is suitable for use with an X dimension of up to 100 mm.

GEZE T-STOP guide rail with pivot bearing

Opening restrictor for doors without door closers

The GEZE T-STOP guide rail in combination with the surface-mounted GEZE pivot bearing enables doors to be installed without door stops getting in the way. The entrance becomes more aesthetically pleasing because the "stumbling blocks" and dirty corners caused to date by fl oor-mounted door stops no longer exist. The risk of being crushed between the door leaf and fl oor-mounted door stop, e.g. in kindergartens and schools, is therefore removed.

Optionally, the T-STOP guide rail can also be equipped with mechanical latching hold-open device; in this way the doors can easily be fi xed in the open position.

The GEZE T-STOP guide rail is made from specially reinforced aluminium profi le with integrated restricting mechanism. The restrict-ing position is freely adjustable, it is installed with the identical drilling pattern to the standard guide rail and therefore requires no special adjustment. Its use on heavy doors and doors subjected to wind loads requires prior clarifi cation.

General product functions and information GEZE overhead door closers with guide rail

1) Backcheck reduces the speed of forcefully thrown open door at approx. 900 door opening. However, e.g. in the case of outward-opening doors exposed to the wind, it cannot replace separate restriction of the opening angle – installation of a door stop or other structural measures.

2) Closing speed The speed with which a door is closed can be individually adjusted.

3) Limit stop The door movement is accelerated in the last degrees of closing in order to overcome closing resistance, e.g. air resistance

4) Delayed closing Reduces the closing speed of a door or stops the door, so that passers have suffi cient time to get through the door.

GEZE door closer with adjustable closing force:

The standards specify that the size of the door closer (closing force of the closer) must be suitably chosen to match the door width.If the structural (door height, door weight) or local conditions (wind) require, the next-highest size must be set.

GEZE TS 3000 V, TS 5000 and variations include several door closer sizes in one housing, which can be set by means of a setting screw. With the TS 5000, the chosen size can be read off a visual display.

GEZE door closer with mechanical hold-open: By installing the hold-open unit in the relevant guide rail, a continuously adjust-able door hold-open function is enabled between 800 and 1300 . The holding force of the hold-open is adjustable. The hold-open can therefore also be switched off .

Limit the maximum door openingangle using a door stop or use ofthe GEZE T-STOP guide rail.

The standards stipulate that the door closer size (closing force of the closer) must be selected appropriate to the door width. The next highest size must be selected if thestructural (door height, door weight) or local conditions (wind infl uence) make this necessary.

Electrical installation

The fl oor springs with electromechanical hold-open must be connected to a power supply to allow the door to be held open.

Electrical data

• Operating voltage 24 V DC• Voltage tolerances +10% -15%• Max. residual ripple 20%• Connected load 110 mA (GEZE TS 550 E / TS 550 E-G)• Connected load 220 mA (GEZE TS 550 E-IS / TS 550 E-IS-G)

Function

• Voltage applied to closer = door held open• No voltage applied or switched off = door not held open, door closes automatically

The door can be closed manually at any time regardless of whether or not voltage is being applied.If a power failure occures or the closer iselectrically tripped, the closer must be“tensioned” again.To allow this, the door must close with backcheck at least once. The closer can then beheld open again. This eff ect only occurs in the case of a power failure or electrical tripping, and not if the door is closed manually whereby the closer can be actuated in the same way as the standard TS 550 with mechanical hold-open.

Power supply cable

The power supply cable should be laid toa junction box next to the door closer.The cable is included in the packageand should be installed in a protectiveconduit which is available as an accessory.
