Letter from the General ManagerDear GCC Members,

I hope everyone is well and safe after the devastating storm we unfortunately experienced last week. First of all, I would like to thank Ray Crickenberger, Judd and Joanne Fields, Ed Adams, Barry Chesson, and James Jones for giving freely of their time to assist in helping the staff remove debris from the golf course. This certainly exemplifi es the true meaning of what a private country club is truly all about!

In refl ecting on what was accomplished this past week from the cleanup of hurricane Irene, I want to thank the entire staff for their tireless efforts in restoring the club back to the state that we are at today. The clubhouse, tennis, and pool are open for Labor Day Weekend. Unfortunately, the golf course took a major hit from the storm. We lost 54 beautiful hardwoods. Our goal is to open the front nine by Tuesday, September 6th and the entire golf course by September 14th.

On a much happier note, we are back in full motion for the upcoming fall season. In planning ahead, please mark your calendar for the upcoming events such as Labor Day at the Pool, Surf and Turf night, Chop House Weekend, Haunted House, Pumpkin Carving, and the Oyster Roast! Don’t forget to sign up for the Club Christmas party on December 10th, because this event sells out quickly!

All of us at the club would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue our clean-up efforts.

Please call in advance of your arrival if unsure of an area's availability. Please call on me if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,Will Davis, CCM

The 2011 GCC Frogs completed another outstanding season. Led by Coach Kate and Coach Brent for the 2nd straight year, the Frogs fi nished 4th in the regular sea-son. However, at the League Championship Meet, the Frogs fi nished an impressive 3rd place (behind Tarboro and Washington) to be the highest placed team from the city of Greenville. At the Championship Meet, the 103 member team was led by GCC member Grant Humphreys, who won 3 individual titles and set 2 new league records. Grant then teamed with Corry Eason, Grace Fountain, and fellow GCC member Katie Frank to set another league record and win a league title in the 10 and under medley relay.

To become part of next year's team, look for information in the April newsletter.

A special thanks goes out to Holt Humphreys for all his hard work to make our swim team the best!

Congratulations 2011 Frogs!!
