This feature logins in the CSR to the web store as the customer where he adds the gift card to shopper’s cart and navigates back to the Manager Panel to complete the purchase.

Returning an order paid via gift cardIf a gift card payment was made on a sales order then an appropriate refund is made to the gift card account during returns. Any balance over and above the gift card amount would be refunded to the credit card or any other payment method selected in the return order form.

Gift Cards Accounting1. Accounting in case of gift card purchases is no different than any

other sales transaction. Whenever a gift card item is purchased, it is recognized as actual revenue and recorded as sale on the balance sheet in the Microsoft Dynamics ERP item master, thus matching the sales transaction and bank record.

2. When a gift card is redeemed, the payment hits the GC account. As no money is deposited to the bank, the bank record and GC account again tally with each other.

3. In case the shopper never redeems the gift card, the GC is never treated as a liability to the merchant as it was treated as sale during purchase.

Gift card life cycle - Purchase

Order containing gift card is integrated in the back-office ERP for fulfillment.

As gift cards are paid and delivered real time, their amount integrates as a advance payment.

The order is invoiced by the operator or a batch process. Zero value invoice is generated for purchased gift card.

Invoice for remaining amount (if other items were purchased with the gift card) is integrated back to the Manager Panel along with the tracking details.

The credit card is charged for money equal to invoice total. Charged money is integrated back into ERP as payment against the invoice.

Order paid via gift card is integrated in the back-office ERP for fulfillment.

Amount paid by gift card integrates as an advanced payment in back-office ERP.

The order is invoiced by the operator or a batch process. Zero value invoice is generated for amount paid via gift card.

Refund to gift cardWhen return invoice with negative amount is generated, the payment is refunded to the gift card and the remaining amount is refunded to the other payment method used during order placement.

Online return requestsReturn requests paid partially or fully via gift card can be submitted online via automated checkpoint ensuring only valid returns are submitted.

Warehouse receives items Returned merchandize is received in the specified warehouse. The process of receiving and inspecting the merchandize is based on the back-office Dynamics ERP. Different ERPs provide a slightly different process for receiving returns.
