Rider's Big Bognor to Brighton Cycle!

Who is doing the cycle? 'We' are cycle-man extraordinaire Chris 'Cycle Rider' Rider, and his team of other gig buddies (at this moment including Madeline "Forest Fire' Denny and Kate 'Oggy Powered' Ogden...but we're definitely gonna be recruiting more!) Why are we doing this you ask? Gig Buddies is a fantastic project, and an important part of our lives - we love cycling and wanted to give some time to help raise much needed funds for Stay Up Late.

When? Saturday 8th April Where? They are starting in Bognor but we will have a welcome party at the finishing line at Brighton Pier. How you can support the cyclers! 1.  If you love cycling you can join them!

2.  Join our welcome party at Brighton Pier, meet at 5pm at the entrance of the pier. We will have a drink to celebrate after the ride.

3.  Sponsor them on this website https://localgiving.org/fundraising/ridersbigbognortobrighton/ Contact Kate for more information 07514 622204

MEETHARRI,OURNEWTEAMMEMBER!Hi, I am Harri. I am the new Gig Buddies project assistant. I am going to be based, mostly, in East Sussex. Instead of Madeline I will be the Gig Buddy staff member that attends the socials. This is because Madeline has stopped working for Gig Buddies. So remember to look for me and say hi when you come to gig buddy events!

Office news

Let’s find out some more about her! Do you live locally? Yes I do! Where were you working before? In Cambodia working to improve access to the job market and education for people living in rural Cambodia.

Where are you from? Wiltshire. I moved to Brighton in 2012

Finally, tell us a fun fact about you! I have been to Glastonbury every year since I was 3 years old!

WEAREMOVINGOFFICEINAPRIL!We are moving to a new, bigger office in April. We are moving to Kemp Town in Brighton into the basement of a church. We will have more room for meetings, events and for all our office volunteers. Date of move: Monday 3rd April 2017 Once we have moved we will have a guide with direction to find our new office, along with our new address.

What was the venue like? The venue was Sticky Mikes Frog bar in Brighton and the gig was in the downstairs room. I could not use the stairs so Joe, who worked at Sticky Mikes, took us to the pitch black lift next door and managed to get us downstairs he was really helpful and brought me a chair later on! It is quite a small venue with maybe a 100+ people there. The bar was accessible with accessible toilets in the downstairs venue. I wasn’t asked for ID but did have my hand stamped so they didn’t have to ask again at the bar. Although the station was a little way away I got a taxi to the front door.

Gig Review by Daniel

STICKYMIKESFROGBAR-27THJANUARY2017

What were the bands like? The first band on were POG who are also playing at our fundraiser in Feb! This is how I would describe their music like loud thundery weather, eating baileys ice cream with cats dancing in the sky. The second band was a guy called Gecko his music was like calm blue sky with mad low flying bats singing love songs with smooth cherry ice-cream. The main act was BEANS ON TOAST! Unfortunately I only saw ten minutes due to the silly trains back to st Leonard’s warrior square. However the ten minutes I saw was good. Beans on toast was noisy like a calm storm in the sea it was like eating coffee ice cream with plastic foxes jumping out of the ice-cream causing havoc. What would you give it out of 10? Why? 10/10 the staff were helpful the music was loud but not too loud and nice people and nice atmosphere!
