Digital Ski l l sVery proficient with the Adobe Creative suite - Indesign & Photoshop in particular but also Illustrator. I am also web savvy either using Dreamweaver or Wordpress and have set up websites with e-commerce and other facilities. Prefer to work on a Mac but can easily switch to PC environment. Am used to dealing with Microsoft Office documents and troubleshooting as required.

Current EmploymentSince March 2012 I have been working freelance, including a few days a week at Blissetts, designing and creating leaflets and posters for Lidl Ireland, the German supermarket chain. I am also currently building a website for a Display Graphics company.
For several years I have also been designing promotional material and organising fundraising events for local charities which I am actively involved with. After taking an extended break to travel and seek new opportunities, I am now looking for part or full time employment.

Managing a team of up to 5 people on the Lidl contract.
g We were designing and creating artwork for weekly store leaflets and posters to advertise the current range of products and special offers. I was also responsible for making sure all the work was done accurately and within deadlines. I would train and employ freelancers as required.
g Setting up templates, libraries and style sheets and helping collegues with more advanced features of Indesign in particular, in order to maximise output and make us more efficient.
g In Photoshop changing and extending backgrounds, clipping paths, colours, removing/adding products, colour management, etc.
Other work included:
g Producing classified advertisements and pages for Gas Installer magazine on a monthly basis.
g Design and typesetting for other clients including journals, manuals, booklets, stationery, etc
g Helping with the installation of the photobook service and with the websites.

PRIMARY COLOURS, PRINT & DESIGN (now aquired by BLISSETT PRINT)
Producing classified ads and pages for several national magazines: Auto Express, British Journal of Photography (weekly), Cycling Campaigning and Touring (bi-monthly). In latter years I took over the design and layout of Step Ahead which was a free magazine for parents and children.
With the advent of new technology we lost a few regular clients, but I kept my position and became one of just two of us, now totally in control of the layout of weekly leaflets for Lidl Ireland. In time, we managed to build on this - the leaflets grew in size and we took on the instore posters as well.
g Typesetting, design and layout of advertisements and pages using mainly QuarkXpress, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc
g Producing film via imagesetters and checking output for errors. Liaising with clients & printers.

InterestsIn my spare time I sing in an operatic society (currently rehearsing for Guys & Dolls), I am a trustee of a local animal charity, but above all, I love swing dancing – especially lindy hop and it’s usually me who knows what’s on and where.
I design flyers and posters for all these and often get involved with organising and running events too. I am planning a swing dance fundraising event later this year. I also maintain the websites: www.haws-animals.org.uk & www.hattonoperatic.org which both include managing online purchasing, widgets and various plugins on Wordpress.
My friends and collegues tell me they can always rely on me to get things done. I work most effectivley when given a clear brief along with impending deadlines so best keep me busy!
